Part of my job is to shop once a week at the local supermarket, purchasing bosses lunch, toilet rolls, gallons of milk etc.

Throughout the summer I wore my gloves outdoors constantly, my Raynaud's appears to be worse in the summer!! Therefore I wore my gloves into the supermarket every week. Sometimes I got an odd look but no one ever made a comment.

We arrive into October and I am now feeling more comfortable, gloves and scarves start appearing, I am no longer the odd one out. The Friday before Halloween I shopped as usual and as usual wore my gloves.

The assistant working on the till looked at my gloves with every item she scanned, the fourth item it obviously become too much for her and she asked "why are you wearing gloves, it's not cold out" When I replied that I feel the cold and need to protect my hands, she gave what can only be described as 'an old fashioned look!

Now I know you are all yelling we all wear our gloves and we all get comments and questions from others. However, I can only assume this shop assistant had forgotten what she had put on that morning for work. As I said above, it was the Friday before Halloween, I was being served by a lady in a tall black pointed hat, a lovely full length black cloak and yes a painted blue face.

I am so pleased my gloves stood out in this crowd - and at the end of October!!

Funny World isn't it!

So, please stay warm, keep wearing your gloves and other nice warm items, blue hands are one thing, but just remember, there are people out there with blue faces!!

Hello Jane

Fantastic! As you live in the weird 'n' wacky world of scleroderma you are allowed to have blue hands, she's not allowed to have a blue face! Shouda took your gloves off and said "now my hands match your face!" Beat that.

Take care and keep posting.

What a scream, Jane!!

Sadly I'm never quick witted enough in those sort of circumstances to come back with a cutting retort....I wish I was!!

Hope we can all keep warm this winter. :)

Back in the day no one would even question wearing gloves, now days when almost anything goes, someones asks why you are wearing gloves? Seems so strange. Gloves are a wonderful thing and I use them more often than ever. I also admire my sister because she always has a pretty new pair of color gloves! This is a good thing! as someone would say! :)
