Hi everyone,

I am going on Monday to meet with a Podiatrist Researcher who is looking into some new inserts that can help Sclero suffers who have pain in their feet when they walk. It is a trial being run here at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, and I will get either the actual insert that they are trialing or the dummy one and then I have to wear it for a couple of months in my shoes (I think) and then write down if they are helping with the pain or not.

If anyone in the area is interested in taking part in the study PM me and I will give you the Podiatrists contact details. Also I will keep you posted as to whether these help or not, and if I got the good ones or the normal ones. The inserts they are trialing are supposed to produce heat in the soles of your feet! I hope they work as walking any distance has become a thing of the past for me. Getting out into the country used to be one of my great joys in life, so with any luck I will be able to do it again!

Cheers
Jean

Hi Jean,

That study sounds very interesting and exciting! Presumably you're not told whether you are getting the actual insert or the dummy one so the results are completely unbiased.

Certainly if it helps you to enjoy walking again and helps to alleviate the pain you're experiencing it's got to be a good thing; I'm all for anything that can improve the quality of our lives. :)

Be sure to let us know how you get on, won't you?

Hi everyone,

Had my inserts put in today, no idea if they are the good or normal ones. 12 weeks of wearing and testing them! Hoping for the best :happy1-by-lisa-volz:

Hello Jean

Did you get the results of the shoe inserts trial?

I hope you noticed an improvement in the pain in your feet (as if you don't have enough else to cope with!)

Best wishes
Debs

No results yet, but I have finished wearing the inserts and they were of no help at all in my case, and I was told I was wearing the special inserts not the regular ones. No heat added to my feet and definately not very much support. The insoles that came with my shoes worked far better than those did. :(

That's a real shame, Jean. However, I'm glad you get some relief with the shoes and their particular design.

Just got a pair of special trainers delivered yesterday. I tried on my sisters and they felt comfy and spongy lol.. Its not for the fitness aspect, I got them to see if they would alleviate the pain and help when I have to walk outside.. I have calcinosis growing out of the bottom of my foot so I know I'll still have pain with that until it comes out. Hope they help, I'm gonna wear them for the next few days and I'll post back how I get on!

:flowers: Hi Amanda

I have just taken part in the orthotics trial at the Royal Free and they are looking for willing Sclero sufferers who have foot pain. Maybe the insoles will help with your ongoing foot problems. So sorry that you are having so many problems. :temper-tantrum: Hugs and warm wishes . :flowers:
