Joint synovitis and tendon friction rubs are factors which predict disease progression in patients with early systemic sclerosis. The disease is more severe in men and there is a higher risk of severe cardiovascular involvement in men. MedPage Today, 10/29/2014. (Also see: Prognosis and Mortality)
