Scleroderma renal crisis (SRC) or thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP): seeing through the masquerade.

 

SRC can easily be mistaken for TTP in clinical practice as SRC masquerades as TTP until the clinical picture changes and certain laboratory test and kidney biopsy results confirm otherwise. PubMed, Lab Med, 2015 Spring;46(2):e39-44. (Also see Scleroderma Kidney (Renal) Involvement)
