Good morning everybody. I've been absent from the forum for a few weeks. My mother passed away unexpectedly on Mar 25. It was a huge shock, she was only 62 and hadn't complained of feeling sick or anything. My husband found her unconscious in her room (we live with her), we did CPR and called 911, they took her to the hospital ICU but it was too late.
For a while I didn't feel like coming here. This used to be my morning ritual - I get up early, so I'd get on the computer in the mornings before Mom woke up, then she could have it later in the day. I was just too sad to be here for a while, because it was the "normal" thing to do, and nothing is normal anymore. It's like, for a while, having Scleroderma was the biggest thing in my life. Then mom died, and Scleroderma didn't matter anymore, I wasn't even thinking about it. Now I'm back to thinking about it again I guess.
Anyway it's nice to be back - I missed you all.
Karen

Karen,
I was so sorry to read of your mother's sudden death. She was young. I know that you must really miss her. I lost my dad in the fall and it was really hard. It was a blessing because he had been so ill. For you to have it happen so unexpectedly makes it a lot harder. I will have you and your family in my thoughts.

Hi Karen,

I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. I know how earth shattering that can be. I lost my mother to cancer at a young again of 59. I also lost my dad to cancer, he died when he was only 49. My heart goes out to you. I know how hard it is to deal with this type of loss and I also know how long it can take to heal.....if you ever really do.

Glad to see you back, don't push yourself however.
Warm and gentle hugs,

Pamela

Karen,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. You can't replace a mother, and we tend to think they will always be there, as they have been since we were born. So it's a great shock when this sort of thing happens.

As others have said, remember the happy times you shared, and eventually the pain will lessen a little, but you will never forget her.

Warm hugs,

Thank you everybody for all your kind words and support. I'm blessed with a wonderful husband, supportive and loving family, and you - I'm glad I don't have to go through it alone. Mom and I had a good relationship so I'm holding on to my memories of her and trying to make her proud of how I'm handling everything.
