So, I have a tingling feeling in my left pinky finger. Does this mean anything? The skin color isn't changing at all. Who knows it could just be in my head. For some reason I only notice it at work. Maybe it has something to do with typing.

Any idea what it means? I guess it could be carpal tunnel. I only get it at work which I set at a computer all day.

Hi Jessica,

I get tingling in my pinky fingers too. My hand therapist who I see for my carpal tunnel told me that tingling in your pinky is not usually from carpal tunnel as that usually only affects your thumb, index and middle fingers.

She told me that the Ulnar nerve coming down from your elbow is usually the cause as that effects your pinky and half your ring finger.

I get stiffness and swelling in my wrists and elbows alot so that kind of made sense to me.

I know how annoying it is, I sympathise with you!

Hugs,
Irene

Hi Jessica,
I seem to get numb hands when I am stressed in some way whether its excercise or a situation. This may be part of the raynauds, or a pinched nerve, or something else. I have mentioned it to my neurologist and rheumatologist and exrays show nothing, so there is really nothing that they can do as far as I know.

Mine seemed to simply come and go. I hope that yours goes away soon!

Hugs~

That is intersted Kiwi b/c it starts when I lean on my elbow. I wondering if I have somehow injured that nerve or maybe when I lean on my elbow it puts pressure on the nerve.

Hi everybody,
Like Erin, I get sort of a light tingly feeling in my hands when I'm stressed. In fact, that's often how I finally acknowledge that I'm anxious about something. If it gets really bad, I take a Xanax and it disappears, so I definitely know it's an anxiety thing--which I think is really weird. My rheumatologist said it's not Raynaud's so not to worry about it. But I still think it's rather weird. For me, I'm probably tensing my shoulders and neck and it's compressing on a nerve.

Hi Jessica
Like everyone else, I get tingling in my pinky and my other fingers from the raynauds, but I also have experienced complete "dead numbness" like when your foot falls asleep. Ulnar Nerve was mentioned, but after having an EMG done to test for compression of the Ulnar Nerve, which came up as normal, I had an MRI done a few weeks ago which has now shown that I have Spinal Stenosis, which means narrowing of the spinal canal, also arthritis in my neck and degenerative disc disease in two of my cerival vertabrae. So now I am off to a spinal specialist for another consultation on what to do about that.........
Don't know if what you are feeling is the same as mine,,,I get complete numbness in my pinky and half of my ring fingers. More on my right hand than left, but also in my left hand. It bothers me most when I am sleeping or working all day on the computer. I would definitely mention it to your doctor, could be a number of things...keep us posted!
Best Wishes,
Patty

Jessica--I think putting pressure on your elbow puts pressure on the ulnar nerve, which can cause tingling in your pinky. I'm not a doctor or a health professional so obviously I could be wrong... Carpal tunnel generally doesn't affect your pinky.

Thanks for all of your responses but after thinking about it I'm almost positive it is from leaning on my elbow. It's only in my left hand and that is the elbow I lean on. I noticed I am always leaning on it...at work, at home, even when I'm sleeping it's always bent and I'm laying on it. I was noticed when I went to the Norah Jones show the other night I even found a way to lean on it. Now that I noticed I do that all the time I am trying to focus on keeping it straight and I haven't had any tingling since then. I think I just freak out with every symptom!

I've had tingling, as well as occasional complete numbness. I've always figured it was related to CREST Scleroderma/Raynauds.

I've seem to have gotten relief with B vitamins, especially B6. B6 is sometimes recommended for neuropathy, which seems like a related problem.
