Hi,
I got a letter yesterday saying that my insurance wouldn't cover my hospital stay because I wasn't bleeding rapidly enough and my blood pressure wasn't low enough. They said that I could have been taken care of in the doctor's office. Well, do your doctors give you blood transfusions in the office along with saline drip? I am thinking maybe they could start drive-thru transfusions! Take care and have a great weekend!

Hi Nan,
What??!!! I am flabbergasted! I can't believe they said it could have been taken care of in the office. I hope you are going to fight it!

Hugs,

No Way!!!!

Don't let this one alone, you need to appeal it. For crying out loud, do they even understand you had transfusions and IV therapy?

I'm really sorry!

Hello Nan,
I can't believe that this happened to you! I think it would be worth it to file some kind of complaint and see if the insurance co. would reconsider.

Insurance companies don't care. They just want your money and to tell you who and what you can do. It use to be that when you got sick they would cover it but now day's you have to fight them to get your bills paid. Well dont let them tell you they won't cover it, that is ridicous.

Hi Nan,

Well, then, since your doctor should have taken care of it in their office (how crazy is that?), then you should probably just forward the bill for them to pay. :(

But reasonably speaking, you need to file an appeal right away. I really can't see it's your fault that you weren't bleeding enough -- although perhaps you could make a mental note to bleed more profusely for the sake of insurance coverage, next time?

Fact of the matter is, insurance companies will deny things simply because so many of us will pay up, and not appeal it. But it is truly amazing how often the decision is in our favor, upon appeal. So never just outright pay from the first denial -- exhaust all your appeal rights, first!
