Hi,
Well when I was calling my insurance company to work on Johns Hopkins referral I let the lady know that I was concerned because my hospital bill wasn't paid for. She looked it up and said yes that my primary care physician needed to have a peer to peer with the medical director. I let her know that my primary care physician had told me that he already had the peer to peer and that it was approved. She looked again and said that he was exactly right. It had been approved. I told her that I kept getting notes saying that it was denied and she said to ignore them. She then proceeded to apologize profusely. She said that she will send me a letter saying it was approved. YEAH!
I went to my GI doctor yesterday. I felt really nauseated when I got there and after he showed me what my poor stomach looked like I felt sicker. I just looked at him and said, "That isn't my stomach, is it?" It was definitely bleeding! I get to have it done again in a couple of weeks.
I hope this rather long note finds everyone hanging in there!
Keep smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nan

Hi Nan,

I'm thrilled that your anemia hospitalization was finally covered by insurance. Congratulations!

But I'm sorry you will need treatment again. I hope the next time they have the good sense not to wrangle over the bill like that.

Margaret,
He did this same procedure on May 7th. He said it usually takes about 2-3 hits. He tries to do them 6-8 weeks apart. My hemoglobin is doing well at this point because I got put back on an iron supplement. I feel very fortunate for that. I hope that you are doing well.

Shelley,
Thanks for your response. Hopefully, this time it will just be an outpatient process. He is making me do it at the hospital in case I have a major bleed during surgery. I already told him that that won't be a problem because my stomach is going to behave.
Take Care!

Hi Nan,

Woohoo!!! I knew that had to be a mistake, I couldn't imagine them not paying for it.

I'm sure sorry you need further treatment. :( Hang in there girl

What a relief, nan, to know that your insurance has been sorted out. I do hope the problems with your stomach will get resolved soon.

Nan,
I am so glad that you stuck to it and the ins. will pay for your treatment now!

Lets keep positive and hope that this next treatment will take care of the stomach bleeding.
