Has anyone with sleep apnea experienced night time rapid heart beat that wakes them?

Hi Barefut,

I've certainly had that, and it's the same type of reaction with asthma; the lack of oxygen will increase your heart rate. I would certainly see a doctor about this if you haven't already!

Best wishes to you,
Elehos

I'm with you andyko, I don't want another doctor right now and I really don't need another health problem right now. I'm stressed to the max with too much major life changes.

I can see it now......sleep study......cardiologist......cpap......more unaffordable meds......

I was just wondering if my occasional to rare night time rapid heart beat had anythig to do with apnea because although I have never been diagnosis withapnea, I know I have it because I waken sometimes gasping for a breath and the other night I woke gasping and then my chest began vibrating like a jackhammer for about 3-4 minutes.

I will mention it to rheumatologist next month. If she suggests cardio or sleep study etc I'll ask her how serious or necessary it really is. I have health insurance and major money issues..... :(

Yes,

I went through extensive testing as well trying to figure it out and they never could. It seems to go in spurts. It's quite frustrating as mine will last for hours, and so I lay there unable to sleep.

Please call your doctor, it could be nothing, but you don't want to take that chance.
Warm and gentle hugs,

Barefut,
I am so sorry that you have added another problem to your life. I think that you should definitely let you doctor know about it. I have had palpitations. Ekg showed no problems.
Take care!
Nan
