Hi Everyone,

Good news......I am so excited this morning!!! Just got back from Gareth's endoscopy and everything looks great. His gastro doctor was excited, too. He showed me the photos and compared to last Dec's endoscopy.........oh, my, what a difference!!! Thank you......for that Plaquenil. The huge swollen epiglottis that we saw last Dec is almost back to normal size. Now, the swelling and edema is down to the point that he could actually see the vocal cords and they look fine, too. The esophagus and stomach also look great.....still the esophageal dismotility but no 'watermelon stomach' associated with scleroderma. He did take bx's (again) to r/o celiac disease but said his intestine showed no signs of it or inflammation.

Take care, Everyone.

So happy Gareths endoscopy turned up better than last year. Maybe he won't have as much difficulty with his swallowing and eating. It is good to hear that the Plaqunil is working. I think that would be my first choice drug over some of the others if I had a choice. Some of these insurance companies are telling the doctors to use alternative drugs that they know most people don't respond first. Have a great day Margaret. Sheryl

Hi Margaret, although haven't posted until this week , I have been following your postings on Gareth. I'm so pleased it was good news for Gareth and the family . I think its far harder to be the mother (or father) of someone with a serious illness than have the to have an illness yourself. One of my sons has a progressive chronic illness and I know how much I fret each time he goes for the tests to assess its progression and the relief I feel when its good news.

That's great news!!! It's always nice when the results are good, especially when they are regarding a child!!
