hi everyone. I need to vent.
what is going on with my bowels?? I've never had a problem with constipation. this is making me crazy. to top it off, my once-regular menstrual cycle is now 8 days late (no chance for pregnancy). I have a gi appt in a few weeks, but enough is enough already!! why do I look 3 months pregnant all the time? is this typical of a connective tissue disease? I know that with lupus you generally have diarrhea and weight loss. what gives?? did any of you start off with this??

thanks so much you all. I'm just tired of not being me any more.

Sharon,
When I first got ill I had the problem with extreme bloating. I looked huge and could not suck my stomach in. That symptom was just as much of a worry as my shortness of breath. Honestly, I don't know what the doctors did for it, because it was at the beginning of my illness and I was on so much medication. Don't think I am a lot of help.

For constipation, if you want a natural remedy, try making a concoction of 1 part whole oats, 1 part natural apple cider, 1 part prune juice. You are supposed to adjust it to your needs but I took a tablespoon a day. It works. Certain meds can cause constipation and I have read that if you have scarring in your GI system it can cause this.

I hope you are feeling better soon,
Jen

Oh goodness, I have terrible digestive/bowel problems. If I'm not constipated then I have diarrhea. I don't even know what normal is anymore. I have been using a product called Miralax that has helped wonders. It's over the counter now.

Sharon, it could be meds or maybe something like not drinking enough water. I hope you feel better soon.

I just bought some Miralax tonight. I only took half a dose. :P I was a little afraid of what it might do. How long does it usually take to work? It seems when I'm stressed things stop moving as they should. I also get incredibly bloated.

For me it works overnight. I take it before bedtime.

Let us know how it does for you!

Hi Sharon,
Yes, the stomach that looks 3 months prego sounds very familiar. And I have lost 2 lbs. the doctor says....so yea, I guess a little bloating comes with the territory sorry to say.

Thanks for the tip Sweet.

I think I would be happy to look just three months pregnant. When I bloat I often look more like 6 months. Went to see a friend last week who is expecting the baby any day and we looked like two pregnant mums! Guess I could use it to my advantage to get a seat on the train!
