spent 1/2 day in ER today with flank pain again. Blood pressure dropped scary low and I was nearly admitted.

Another CT showed that kidney stones havn't moved. Was put on another round of antibiotics.

Complicating things, I have a stomach bug that my youngest just got over. Right now my gut is growling, rumbling and gurgling loud enough to wake the nneighbors.

I feel just awful right now, dizzy nausea etc pain medication not working on the pain and I think my BP is low again.

Youngest woke me complaining of stuffy nose and he's coughing. I' guess he'll stay home with me today. I don't know how I'll take care of him if I can barely take care of myself.

I'm calling my sister to see if she can come stay with me. Hate doing that as she is in high demand with her company but I need somebody.

wow, I've gotta go. I'll get back when I can

Scared,
Barefut

Oh, Sweetie - so sorry to hear you are feeling worse. It never rains but it pours, does it? The only thing I can suggest is to camp out in a comfy place with your boy and take care of each other. Maybe in front of the tv with some favourite videos to share, a bucket on each side of the bed and box of tissues between you. Just make sure to take care of yourself first and get as much rest as possible. Healing hugs to you.
Warm wishes,
Jefa

Hi Barefut,
I'm so sorry that you and your son is not well. Try and take it easy and rest and I'm hoping that your sister can stay and help you out. You are in my thoughts, try and take one day at a time and know that you are not alone in all of this, I'll be thinking of you.

Best wishes
Celia

I'm with Jefa.....Just camp out with big blankets and pillows in front on the TV. Be sure to have enough bottled water and juice boxes by you so you're not getting up and down. Is there a husband to help you? If not, maybe you can make it through until your sister comes. Hopefully the little one may nap most of the day, which will allow you to do the same.

Feel Better............

Good advice here ------------big warm blanket, nice fluffy pillow, a warm fire if you have one, and some good TV.

I just got over the kidney thing and also had the stomach flu with diarrhea for 4 days and it was not fun. I am thinking of you and hope you get to feeling better soon. I hope you are able to get the help you need so you can get some rest.

Warm hugs form Minnesota.

Oh my Love,

I'm so sorry. You sound absolutely miserable, and I'm sure that it's even harder beings you have no one to care for you! Call your sis, that's what family is for. Any friends that may be able to take your son for the day, giving you time alone to rest?

I can not imagine the pain you must be in right now with those stones.

Hang in there my friend.

Hi Barefut ,

You have had them stones for quite some time. Have they tried to zap them.....can't think of the medical term. It's like a sonic/pulsating machine that is aimed at the stones. The two of you crawling under the covers sounds like a good way to spend a sick day.

Take care, Everyone.

Thanks again for all the hugs guys.

I wanted to go back to ER 2 hours after I got home. I waited until 11pm, was only feeling worse and worse so I had my rheumatologist paged. Long story short I was admitted to the hosp for observation.

I did a round of IV antibiotics and a couple of bags of fluids. I was moderately dehydrated and my blood pressure was pretty low. I also got 100 mgs hydrocortisone a couple of times and received some good pain relief. However, I didn't get any sleep for 35 hours!!!

I feel so much better but still have the flank pain. I'm taking Flomax which is supposed to help pass the stones, which are small I'm told, so they should pass without too much discomfort. I found out the stones are hanging out in an area just between the kidneys and the ureter (sp?!)

I guess the kidney infection was a "probable" diagnosis I didn't read the ER discharge notes too closely- some test results had not come back yet, and aparently my kidneys are fine aside from the stones. YAY!

My sister came and took care of both of my sick boys on Wednesday. She bought some muffins for quick breakfast for us and some soup and sandwhich stuff for dinner as well as milk which she knows we're always low on. Then she did the laundry, cleaned the bathroom and even did a dump run!!! After I got home she took the boys out for ice-cream so I could take a nap.

I have the BEST sister in the whole world!

Barefut,

What a tough time you've been having. I hope you are beginning to turn the corner. One thought on your low blood pressure....how low is low? And could any of your meds be contributing to it?

Sisters can be the best, best, best. It sounds like you have one of that kind. I do as well. I really don't know what I'd do without her.

Take care. Sending lots of healing hugs to you and your boys.

xoxo emmie

I'm glad to hear you went back to the hospital and was admitted. Getting the fluids and meds can only help. I hope you pass the stones and get some relief real soon. Thank heavens for family! What would we do without them! Take care and rest up over the weekend.

Warm hugs from Minnesota.
