I have a question about skin tightening. It has now been a year now since my diagnosis of Limited/Crest Scleroderma. About 2 months after I was diagnosed I was in the shower and felt my skin pulling back on my wrists. Today I felt my skin tighten on my face, initially it was around the jaw line, when I looked in the mirror I could see under my neck a bunch of skin that had been pulled back was very wrinkled, then it disappeared within seconds, weird.
I have no skin involvement as yet, everything is internal. How long has it taken for any of you before your skin starts to harden?

I have a very aggressive form of Systemic Scleroderma and my skin started tightening right way. I was diagnosed on Jan. 4, 2007 and have total body involvement. My Rodnan score is probably off the charts. Since we all experience the this disease differently it would be difficult to tell how your skin will react. There are others here that can chime in with their experiences.
Warm and gentle thoughts are coming your way! TJ

Sometimes I feel like the skin around my nails is super shiny.

Hi TJ ,
I am curious about your diagnosis and the fact that you have total skin involvement. Do you internal issues, also? The esophageal dismotility, restrictive lung disease, etc?
Just curious......Gareth's was very progressive in the start but was all internal with no skin involvment. This disease is so weird and unpredictable....it's no wonder it is so hard to diagnosis since no two people have the same symptoms.
Take care, Everyone.
