Lately I have had left leg edema. It is pretty good in the morning and my evening you cannot even see my ankle. There is no pain and they checked for blood clot and there was none, thank goodness. I have had a little pain around heart area, but nothing to even mention to the doctor. Have any of you had this. It is been around for about a week. Any clues? Susie54

Susie,
I have this in both my legs. I am now on a heart med and its helping it alot so I say of you have pain around the heart area, no matter how small it seems to you, I would say to alwasy mention it to the dr and let them decide if its worth worring about. I know first hand that this disease can and does effect the heart. I have stiffning on the left side of my heart.

Please let me know how your doing.
Hugs,
Patty

tHANKS Patti,

I will mention it tomorrow to my rheumatologist. I have my check up. Do you mind me asking what heart problems you have? Susie54

Hi Suzie, For the past three weeks or so, my ankles have started swelling to an unrecognizeable size by the end of the day. More so if I've worked all day. But my ankles are painful all day, and by the end of the day, it feels like they are just going to break into pieces! I mentioned this to the new cardiologist that I just saw out at U of Mich., She didn't really say anything. But I do have to go back on the 18th to have a hall walk, chest x-ray, VQ scan, and another 2-D Echo, then after the holidays, I'm afraid it's my turn for the ole' right heart cath! Good Luck to you! I hope you find relief from your edema. I put my "Warm Me Ups" over my ankles and put them up when I get home from work. It does wonders to take the swelling down.

Warm and Happy to you! xo Vee

Hi Susie,
I have leg edema as well and my dr says mine is due to poor circulation. It sounds just like yours... in the morning it is not too bad and by the end of the day they are throbbing and huge! Some days are better than others...

HI Everyone,

I went to my rheumatologist appt. yesterday and he didn't seemed too concerned. He said it was standing on my feet too long and circulation. He said if it happened again , he would want to do a echocardiogram to make sure. But as usual , I am better and glad for it. I had an echo last year that was good. My appt. was good. Told him I was so glad to be back on Plaquenil. I feel so much better. I had to go of it for four months this past summer and that was not fun. My blood pressure was up a little. 140/70. I take blood pressure medicine and a diuretic. Other than that I am OK>He was pleased. Thanks for all you responses. Vee, good luck with all your tests. Let us know. Everyone keep your feet up! Susie,
Thanks for letting us know what your doctor said. I'm so glad it's not something to be too concerned about and that your appt was good. It's also good to hear that the Plaquenil is still working for you. I think I'm going to have a talk with my rheumatologist in Dec about Plaquenil. It seems to work working for several people.
Thanks for the update. Get some rest and stay off those feet. :)

Hi Susie,

Thanks for the update! I am glad that it seems like the swelling isn't anything serious and overall you had a good appointment. That is a great gift for the holidays. I am also glad to hear that you are able to take the Plaquenil again and it is working for you. I know it has done wonders for me and I would hate to have to stop taking it. I hope you will take it easy, get lots of rest and relaxation, and not be on your feet too much!

Warm wishes,
Heidi
