Oh yea, another sclero first I'm sure - at least for me and I'll bet only me because I'm just so weird.

Just sittin' here bloggin' away - doing a proof read with my chin on my fist and my lower lip cramps up! What a weird feeling. Lastnight it was the side of my hand.

It feels bizarre when your muscles get a mind of their own and start disobeying the brain they're supposed to listen to. It wasn't painful - not like the cramps I get in my feet when it feels like my toes are sticking together. No, this just felt like my lip was folding itself in half - and stayed there. Wish I had a mirror. I bet I looked funny.

Well now my glutes are starting to cramp up so I guess I'll get off this hard chair and hit the couch.

Good night everyone. You're all in my thoughts tonight.
Be Well!

I get this too! I didn't know it was connected to scleroderma. Does anyone else get a cramp in their stomach when they bend over - is that also connected?

Barefut, no I have not had a lip cramp. Just knuckles and feet.

Oh catherinechaos !! Yes I do get that when I bend over. It feels like a muscle is popping out of place and I have to sit straight up to get it back in place and I can actually feel it move back. My husband was concerned when I told him about it but I just kind of blew it off, but now that you mention it, I'm thinking it may be Sclero related. I have an appointment with my Rhumetologist tomorrow, so I will mention it and let you know what he says. I'm sure he'll send me for some sort of test (sigh).

Howdy Barefut,

I think I get cramps in every part of my body at one time or another. My tongue is the one that I think is the wierdest feeling. And yes, I've had them in my stomach, too. During my last OB GYN visit, is when my stomach decided to cramp up for about 15 minutes. It was embarrassing, I had to keep sitting up to try to let it relax. And while I'm in the middle of a haircut, sometimes, my pinky finger, all down the side of my hand will decide it wants to fold into my palm. All I can do is to stop and lay it on a flat surface and place my other hand on top of it until it "let's go".
And don't get me started about my feet!

So you're all not alone in this one either!

Here's to a cramp free day!
Happy people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have!

Warm and Happy to you! Vee

Oh - I too get that thing that feels like a muscle popping out of place when I bend over - is very painful. Of course could well not be related to SSc - I will have to ask 'normal' people if they get it as well.

Lizzie that would be awesome to have a symptom that is finally NOT related to all this mess. Let us know what you find out from the "norms" :P

My cramp is exactly the same, if I lean back really far I can feel it pop back in! Please let us know when you've been to the doctor if it's related, my doctor usually just looks at me down his glasses when I ask about symptoms and says 'possibly'. I think now that anything and everything can be related to it.

The muscle popping out thing sounds like a hernia...I have one and your description sounds exactly like that. have you had abdominal surgery?

Hi karenL, it does sound like a hernia- except I experience the pain just below the ribs - which is not the usual spot you would get a hernia and have not had surgery so not an incisional hernia!

i haven't gotten a lip cramp yet, but I do get the hand cramps.

I think it's kinda cool that you can watch your hand muscle cramp up. but yeah... painful

Hope your feeling better!

Oh my goodness - a hernia?! Can we just ignore it and carry on regardless? There's no pain with it. I don't want a hernia thank you very much. I prefer the stick your head in the sand option at all times.

LOL Oh Barefut,

I know it isn't funny, but I had this immediate picture of you looking like Elvis Presley with your cramped lip!

Hope it's better. :)

Wow! :o I get a stomach cramp too but mine hurts!! I was laughing really hard the other day and it cramped up really bad. I was also trying to sit up in bed and I guess I stretched that muscle. I'm afraid to do sit ups or any abdominal excercises for fear of getting that cramp.
I may have Scleroderma, but Scleroderma doesn't have me!

Yeah, the cramping seems to be common amoung us. I wonder if it's a hernia from sclero?? I asked my Rhumys asst. about it and she said it should go away when I start the meds so we'll see. B)
