Hi Everyone, My Home care nurse was here earlier. She took a look at my toe and She doesn't like the way it looks. It has been feeling better since I'm propping my foot up on a pillow and I'm on antibiotic. My parents and me haven't looked at it because it's covered up with special foam for wounds. So, we were pretty shocked to see it. I just can't believe this. I thought it was getting better. How can this be? Hopefully it will get better real soon! I have to admit, it's a little scary.
Does anyone know how long it takes these sores to heal?

Sadie

Sadie,

What did your home care nurse say about it? Should you go have it looked at? I would think if it's getting worse you should go see someone. I don't know how long it should take to heal but if it's looking as bad as you say, please have it checked out.

Sadie:

Please, I'm telling you......go to a wound care facility. Don't wait as long as I did. I don't want you to lose that toe!

We're not ordinary Sadie.......we need to be our own advocates. Please, please, please make the appointment. I waited eight months before I got MYSELF to the wound care center. If I didn't, I would have lost my foot or possibly half my leg. I still may lose a good portion if this does not heal properly; I'm already past the 6-8 week healing period. I know my general practitioner feels awful about the circumstances and I'm thankful I went and tended to it myself!

Get up girl........go!

Karen, My nurse said to continue proping it up.I've been on a antibiotic since Monday night.
She said to call her if it gets worse. Then, we will go to the dr. I do have a appt coming up.
We will go sooner to the dr. if it gets worse.

I agree with everyone else that if it doesn't look good over the weekend to go in right away. It's better to be safe than sorry. I hope it is much better and you are well on your way to it healing.

Warm hugs,

Peggy

Keep us posted, Sadie. I am so sorry to read that your toe wasn't doing as well as it felt.

Though I've not had experience with this, the ladies who have responded to your thread... have.

So, please take care and know that you are very much in my thoughts.

Hi

:o I agree with the others, try to get yourself to a wound centre Monday and get it looked at (be sure to explain your problems with healing due to this disease ok). Good luck!
Sending good wishes your way!

Hi Sadie,

Sorry your toe is not healing like you want it to. I'm afraid there is no time limit, everyone is different. I hope they can get on top of this for you.

Hang in there.
Warm and gentle hugs,
