Hi everybody!

Does anyone know what is really good to take to help ease arthritis pain please, cod liver oil maybe? My mother (80 years) gets pain in her back from her hips and down her legs.

Thanks for any suggestions!
Sending good wishes your way!

Hi Snowbird,

I have been taking cod liver oil and fish oil (omega 3's) but I hardly felt a difference until I started Prenisone so I cannot really give you a difinitive answer other than it can't hurt to take those suppliments. (unless her doctor says otherwise).

Hi,
I take 3000 mg. of fish oil a day. It does help me.

Snowbird,
I'm sorry your mother is suffering from arthritic back pain. I'm dealing with my 82 year old mother who is also suffering back pain, but hers is due to a cracked vertebrate. You mentioned cod liver oil - we do have a couple of articles on cod liver oil and its effectiveness for arthritis pain. You might also find some ideas on the NSAID page.

I hope your mother finds some relief soon.

Big Hugs,
