Hi Sheryl

No, my friend has never taken that drug...sorry, can't help with that after all but I see the others have lots of good advice. Let us know how you make out along the way! :)
Sending good wishes your way!

I'm glad you had such a great weekend with your company! You are a brave soul and alot stronger than I am!

I'm even more glad that you have such a great resource here from everyone sharing about their diabetes. How beneficial and helpful! I know I would be at a total loss at what to do with my eating habits if I develop diabetes as I am a terrible chocolate hound. I wish you good luck and I know you will do the research necessary to do what you have to do to maintain in this disease.

Warm hugs,

Peggy

Sheryl,
How is your shoulder feeling now? Is your range of motion better or did you over do it this past weekend? Food regimines are so hard to follow because as soon as someone says :You have to eat this and not that", you always automatically want the that! Please let us know what is on your food list and how you are feeling.

Hugs,
Lisa

Sheryl,
Finally catching up on some of my reading. Girl - what a mess! Glad to hear the good news about the shoulder, but the diabetes thing - UGH! I had to laugh when you were talking about your diet and all the foods you can't eat because of this and that. That one hit close to home. It's a never ending battle with all of our symptoms to get a good and pleasant diet. After reading Dave's post and his success with a nutritionist, I think that might be a good idea for many of us. With all your medications and diet restriction it definitely sounds like a good idea.

Most of the information on diabetes that we have on this site is on Type 1. I just wanted to give you the heads up on that. Type 1 diabetics have to have insulin and possibly other medications, but Type 2 can sometimes control it with diet and exercise. Much easier said that done!!! With all the responses you received and with your recent diagnosis it looks like a section on Type 2 diabetes might be in order.

I'm glad you had a fun weekend! I'm sure it was draining for you, but sometimes that emotional enjoyment can give us such lift.

Take care of yourself.

Hi Sheryl,

How fun....Is it okay to say that I'd love to be there to play in the sand too?!lol

It is so nice that all of you get together as you do...not only to enjoy the seasons, but also each other!

Rest up and keep the glow going!

Information on type 2 diabetes would be great Janey. Even food choices would be nice. I am not a web surfer and can't even find out what foods I am now suppose to eat or not eat. Maybe I am asking the wrong questions. I will work on it.
Strength and Warmth,

Hi Sheryl,

Ooooh, aren't you having fun!

I've been reading about low glycemic index foods. There are a lot of resources out there on the web, especially lists giving the glycemic index of various food. There are a lot of them that would be just fine for those of us that have lots of GERD.

I think sometimes the doctors just put the brain in neutral while a tape loop in the back of the throat goes: you need to lose weight and exercise more, you need to lose weight and exercise more, you need to lose weight and exercise more~ I've had that without any questions about what I do eat and how much exercise I get.

Good luck and lots of fun with the houseful!

JJ
