Hiya all!

The whole summer I've been desperately trying to keep on track about everything that's going on here on slcero forums, but I've found that really hard thing to do, since I've been amazingly busy for the whole summer.

First I spent those five weeks in Spain. It was very teaching experience, and I gained a great deal of great memories, despite the fact that our apartment had mold (and cockroaches too), and that mold caused me a bronchitis, so I was really sick for a week. Good thing that I could move to Barcelona to my friend's place. In there I made so many new friends.

After trying to relax in Finland for couple of weeks I traveled to the Caribbean with my EX to visit our friends. It was the most amazing trip ever, but occasionally it was pretty stressful. Despite that, I enjoyed every single second of it.

My sclero symptoms have all gotten worse during all of this: I can seriously feel the skin getting tighter on my left side and ankle, and the pain is no only on my shoulder blades anymore: my left side has already started to hurt every now and then. If I sleep on my left side, I can feel my ribs "touching" the mattress, since there's almost no fatty tissue between the skin and ribs at all.

This all scares me. Luckily I'm going to see my dermo and rheumatologist during this fall, but those appointments are still more than a month ahead. I guess I should decide by then what I want to do with this: whether to try some medication or not.

I don't think SUP therapy would be enough to fix all this. It worked on my pigmentation, but not with the tightening or pain.

There has been also something good happening: since I've been in a very sunny places during the whole summer, I have only seen the pigmentation improving, and I'm happy about that. But on the other hand, why does the pain and tightening get worse then?

Now I'm finally back to home, starting my senior year in upper secondary school. It's going to be a rough year but I'll do my best.

Just thought I'd let you guys know how I've been doing, and that I've been thinking about you all, reading your posts every time I could, even that I haven't been commenting too much.

Take care,
Emmi

Emmi,

I am awed and amazed by what you've accomplished this summer! Thank you for sharing your traveling experiences with us. I have yet to get off this continent. Some day I will. Spain and the Caribbean sound lovely. I hope you've had a chance to recuperate before you start school again. You are a beautiful girl with an amazing spirit! I know school will be tough at times but think of us because we'll be thinking of you. :)

Sorry to hear about the skin tightening. I know when I over work myself especially outside in the sun, my skin doesn't like that and will tighten up. I am glad to hear your pigmentation is clearing up. That's great!

Keep us posted after you get settled in.

Your friend on the other side of the ocean!

Hi Emmi ,

I am so glad you enjoyed your summer off. I love the Carribean!!! If I could paint the walls in my house to look like the blue-green ocean, every wall would be that color!!!

Take care, Everyone.

Hi Emmi

Welcome back, we've missed you too! I'm glad that you had a great summer and that you made it through those little rough spots....if it was worth it, then the trip must have been great overall for you :) . Sorry to hear your sclero symptoms have been acting up....I hope Sweet is right and once you get back into your regular routine and get some rest, maybe things will settle down and you'll start to feel better.
Sending good wishes your way!

Hi, Emmi. So glad to learn that you have finally beat that nasty bronchitis from the mould. I was a bit concerned about that. It sounds like your summer has been quite an adventure. Do keep us posted when finally see your doctors again. Have you tried a foam pad on top of your mattress to help cushion your ribs? I look forward to seeing you in chat again one of these days. :D
Warm wishes,
Jefa

Emmi,

I tried to edit a previous post and somehow I lost it...duh...so if I am repeating myself, I apologize.
I sure hope you are just going through a sclero "phase" and you are better soon. Traveling can really take a toll on the body, as I know first hand.
Thanks for sharing your fun summer with us.
We saw too many cockroaches in Barcelona as well. One was at a recommended tapas restaurant. My hubby and I sat down at the tapa bar and in the glass was a dead roach. Yeppers. I also got Barcelona Belly while there...but my stomach is very sensitive so that doesn't surprise me.
I am wondering where you visited in the Caribbean!

Love,
Clem

I was living in Dominican Republic, which is located right next to Haiti. Our friends live in the capital city, Santo Domingo, in an air base, cause their dad is a general of the air forces or something.. It was pretty cool to live in the military area for two weeks!

I just loved the place. And it was a great experience to hang out with locals.. very different than in tourist destinations I can tell.

I have been to DR and agree on how lovely it is. We stayed in Punta Cana but spent a lot of time in Cabarete. It was so neat. It is so natural there....you don't see Pizza Huts! Even in Punta Cana, where it is a major tourist destination, it was still very peaceful. Very pretty. We have someone on the board from the Dominican Republic!
I am glad you had so much fun Emmi!
