You may remember my other posts about all of the problems I was having with my bowels, constant diarrhea, nausea and so forth. For the last few days this seems to have rectified itself :) , but I am a little annoyed that I seemed to be fine when I visited my Gastro doctor.

All of my blood tests came back normal, my Gastro doctor doesn't seem to think that I have Gastroparesis, she said if I did have that, the symptoms would be constipation and not diarrhea. So, I have the breath tests next week to rule out Bacterial Overgrowth, then I start back on the antibiotics.

She has also prescribed me a drug called Creon forte, which I am to take everytime I have a meal or a snack. This med is to help me digest food, as she thinks that my pancreas is not producing an enzyme that helps to digest food. Apparently this is a common problem with Scleroderma patients.

Is anyone on this Creon forte and has it helped you with your problems?

Many thanks

Celia, I feel bad you didn't really find out what was happening. I wish the doctor's all learned from some of the same books. I have had over the past few years gastroparesis. I have diarrhea not constipation. Mine goes beyond just severe diarrhea, bloating and nausea. I guess our doctors will only agree to disagree on many issues. I hope you get some type of results or diagnosis from your breath test. I wonder if it matters the amount of time that has lapsed since you have had the diarrhea. I hope the pills you were prescribed help you out with your digestion problems. Let us know how they work and how many a day you end up taking.

Sorry you didn't find out much at your appointment but I am glad you are feeling better anyway. Have never heard of creon forte so I can't help you. Hope you can be a few days without any symptoms so you can gain some strength back.

Hope the new medicine works well.

A happy heart is good medicine.

Hi, Celia. Apparently Creon Forte is a replacement pancreatic enzyme, one form of the drug Pancrelipase. I have no experience with the drug, but I thought you might find this link of interest.

Hi Celia

I can't help about the new med either....but Sheryl's response it very interesting....perhaps another opinion might be warranted for you? Only a thought of course....but I also hope the new medication helps you to feel better.
Sending good wishes your way!

Sheryl, thanks for replying to my post, its a bit scary to think that doctors don't know the symptoms of Gastroparesis. My Gastro doctor is away for 3 months now, so I will be seeing another one in a months time, hopefully he will be better informed with things.

Jefa, thanks for that link it had a lot of information in it. Why I am feeling ok, I won't be starting the Creon forte. I don't really want to add another tablet unless I absolutely have to.

Thanks everyone else for your comments, it is much appreciated.

Take care
Celia :)

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope your upcoming tests will provide some explanations.
I may have Scleroderma, but Scleroderma doesn't have me!
