Hanging streamers and balloons

This year my youngest daughter, Megan asked me if we could have a party this year instead of going out to a restaurant to celebrate her birthday. She said we could invite a few people and put together a simple buffet style dinner. I said, Sure why not? I just realized my mind is not in sync with my body. They don't connect or agree when it comes time to do things.
So this past week I've been cleaning, decluttering and moving things around that hadn't been moved for quite some time. I don't mind because my youngest hardly ever asks for anything and besides 21 is a milestone. Our last two parties were held outdoors when it was warm and we had plenty of room to stretch and mingle. Now the weather's cold so we'll be indoors. My house is very small, a tiny livingroom, tiny diningroom and a cute little kitchen (and 3 small bedrooms). Today is going to be a busy one for me. I could never be a party planner. I should mention my phone line went dead two days ago, I guess from the wind blowing around. Thank goodness my daughter has a cell phone I can borrow so I can confirm who's coming over. My last count was 15.
I'm off to buy streamers, (maybe not balloons, who's going to blow them up?), paper cups, and last minute items. I might tackle vacuuming the basement. I'm sure my cat Kitty will think I've lost my mind. I hope I survive the preparations, but seeing my daughter's smile and spending time with family and friends will be worth it.

Thanks for the offer. I'd have taken you up on it too. I'm surprised how everything's falling into place. My daughter's going to decorate and put the party favors together tonight. I can finally relax and take it easy. Can't wait for the fun to begin!

I love parties! I loved entertaining especially the cooking. Of course there's all the prep work, cleaning, shopping etc so now it's all quite overwhelming.
I hope your daughter's party goes well and you achieve everything you want to.

It's the day after and everything went great! There was enough food ((popeye's) fried chicken, mostaccoili, scalloped potatoes, salad, atomic cake and tres leches cake). Oh, and of course plenty of beverages. The black and yellow streamers looked great and I did get the balloons, which my two daughters huffed and puffed to blow up. I hope my daughter downloads a picture or two for me and I'll upload one here. Today, I'll take it easy. There's some cleaning up but it's mostly throwing out the yellow table cloths and rearranging the dining room table. My poor Kitty got spooked by the balloons and has been military style crawling into every room while she peers up to see if any enemy balloons are waiting to attack. I'm definitely going to remove those balloons (carefully).
I hope everyone is having a great week!
Oh, and yes my daughter did have her official 21 drink. I watched like a mother hen.
