Hi, I am new to this forum and although I have autoimmune problems myself, my concern is for my granddaughter. She has just been diagnosed with scleroderma after suffering three miserable years with the severest constipation. She has other symptoms, but the constipation is the most urgent and serious problem at this time. She has been in and out of the hospital many times without a diagnosis  . Colonoscopy is normal, but obviously motility isn't. She had surgery to attach her appendix just below her navel. A catheter is inserted periodically through her appendix into the cecum and Go-Litely is put in to stimulate bowel movement. NOTHING else works, medications, foods, fiber, or anything else you can think of. She is going to a Motility Clinic in June. After they evaluate her she may be a surgical candidate. Has anyone else had this severe of a problem with constipation?

Hello Perlina

I can't see any replies here to your post so Welcome!

It may be that because your first post is in the middle of another topic that it's been overlooked. Please post your query as a new topic and you'll no doubt get a lot of replies and welcomes.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Take care.

Hi, Perlina

Sorry your message got overlooked. Thanks, Amanda, for noticing. How old is your granddaughter, Perlina? This procedure sounds very unusual. I'd like to hear more about it. Please let us know how the visit to the motility clinic goes in June.

In the meantime, welcome to the Forums. I hope you will find them as informative and welcoming as I have.
Warm wishes,
