Hi Oddone,

Gleevec is in the very initial stages. See:
http://www.sclero.or.../a-to-z.html#sd

It has just been tested in animals so far. However, it is very hopeful.

Just went to rheumatologist. appt on Wednesday with my husband, and she is currently approved for a trial (huge research Dr.), all paperwork to be completed in approx 1 mo.
She said that my husband would be able to participate, and will be hearing from them at that time.
We are new to all this, and don't really know what to think.

Hi Oddone,

That's good news! What kind of trial, do you know? Is it a Gleevec trial (is that why you asked)?

Hi Oddone--

One promising thing about Gleevec (as opposed to other promising therapies we occasionally hear about) is that its already being taken by people as chemo for cancer.

At least you know that its relatively safe. It would be great if your Dr. is doing research on patients.

I hope things get better for your husband soon.

Shelley and Mike

Yes, it is a Gleevec trial, and we should be hearing more about it in the next month or so
