Chair of ISN Medical Advisory Board

Dr. James R. SeiboldIn February 2010, Dr. James R. Seibold, who is the Chair of our ISN Medical Advisory Board, became Professor and Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Connecticut Health Center. His goal at the University of Connecticut is to bring cutting edge care and research to persons with scleroderma in the Northeastern region.

He had been on the faculty of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School from 1980-2004 where he had served as Chief of the Division of Rheumatology, Director of the Clinical Research Center and as the W.H. Conzen Chair of Clinical Pharmacology. In July 2004, he became Professor and Director of the University of Michigan Scleroderma Program and the Marvin and Betty Danto Research Professor in Connective Tissue Disease.

Author of more than 300 scientific publications, he is considered a world thought leader in scleroderma, Raynaud's phenomenon and interventional research in the rheumatologic diseases. He has received multiple awards from arthritis and scleroderma patient organizations and appears on virtually every listing of "Best Doctors".

Dr. Seibold wrote the Introduction to Voices of Scleroderma Volume 2, and Voices of Scleroderma Volume 3, which are superb books with top quality medical and support information for patients and caregivers, and published by the International Scleroderma Network (ISN).

Dr. Seibold is Past President of the Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium - a key partner with the ISN in scleroderma clinical research efforts. (See ISN/SCTC Research Fund) .

Dr. Seibold is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.
