The Introduction to Scleroderma is by renowned scleroderma expert Dr. Joseph Korn, who passed away shortly after the first edition of this book was published. Volume One also features articles by Dr. Magdalena Dziadzio, Dr. Thomas Lehman, Dr. Asim Iqbal, and Gary Barg.
.Dr. Joseph Korn was Chief of the Rheumatology Section of the Boston University Arthritis Center. He was a highly renowned scleroderma expert with many research studies and professional publications to his credit. His lead-in article for Volume 1, entitled "Introduction to Sclerod", clearly explains this complex disease.
Dr. Magdalena Dziadzio is Medical Advisory Chair of the International Scleroderma Network. She obtained her medical degree in Poland. She currently works in the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Ancona, Italy. She developed her knowledge about scleroderma working with Prof. Carol Black and her team at the Department of Rheumatology, Royal Free Hospital, London.
Dr. Thomas Lehman is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology for The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He is a widely recognized expert in the field of Juvenile Scleroderma, which is any form of scleroderma that onsets during childhood. Dr. Lehman clearly explains Juvenile Scleroderma in the introduction for the chapter of juvenile scleroderma patient and caregiver stories.
Dr. Asim Iqbal Qureshi is with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nishtar Hospital in Multan, Pakistan. He is also the creator of the online presentation for Scleroderma & Pregnancy. He developed that presentation for his department over their concern for a pregnant scleroderma patient. In this book, Dr. Iqbal shares his story about the case of the unfortunate fetus.
Gary Barg is editor-in-chief of Today's Caregiver Magazine, and founder of Caregiver.com. He is a very sought-after keynote speaker for many conferences on health and caregiving. His first-hand experience as a caregiver is parlayed into a fine introduction to our chapter of caregiver and survivor stories.
Ione Bridgman, ISN Artist, painted the fabulous lighthouse for the cover of Voices of Scleroderma Volume 1. Sherrill Knaggs, ISN Artist, created the digital image from Ione's painting.
Judith Rose Thompson, co-editor, is ISN Archive Committee Chair. She is the author of three fiction novels. Her latest novel, Mind Blindness, was released in July 2002. Judith volunteered to preserve the sclero.org stories and to create this book series to benefit the International Scleroderma Network.
Shelley Ensz is also co-editor of the book. She is Founder and President of the International Scleroderma Network, the SCLERO.ORG website and the Scleroderma Webmaster's Association.
