Jason G: Morphea |

I am a twenty-nine-year-old male. About two and a half years ago I noticed two white spots (surrounded by a purplish tint) on my calf. To be honest they looked like scarred-over gunshot wounds. I went to my doctor, and he had no idea what it was. I then went to see a dermatologist, who did a biopsy and diagnosed me with having morphea. The spots began to spread, and now I have them on my trunk, legs, and arms. Like many others, I was worried about the association that LS has with Systemic Sclerosis. I went to see a rheumatologist, who unfortunately originally told me that morphea has been known to lead to systemic sclerosis. Obviously, he was wrong about this, and later admitted that he spoke too soon, and there are no studies that back up that assertion. So, it has been quite a journey thus far. I am grateful that I do not have the systemic version and my joints/muscles have not been effected thus far. I tried some of the creams, and nothing has really worked. Does anyone know if these spots will ever go away? Or will this scar tissue be with me forever? Thanks. |
