  1. Hi all ... I have a question that I hope you all can shed some light on. I have Asthma and I get these terrible, frequent ear infections that drain into my lungs. I can be off my feet for 7-14 days at a time, I need to wear diapers, I am on oxygen, etc. I wasn't diagnosed yet. First my doctor said scleroderma now she says lupus. She said im a medical mystery and that I need to be monitored closely. anyways, ,my question is ... does anyone here know of these symptoms being in scleroderma. thanks for the help
  2. Wow ... this sounds too familiar. At first, my arms and legs didn't work in the mornings ... right after I'd wake up. I'd tell myself to move, but I couldn't for maybe 5-10 minutes afterwards. Nowadays, like 8 months later, I have muscle aches all the time. It's like they just don't work right anymore and I feel like I'm always off balance and have a "spring" in my step.
  3. Thanks for the link ... Nova Scotia is only an hr and 30 min plane ride from here.
  4. That clears the muddy water a bit ... lol ... thanks for the info.
  5. I had a positive ANA and a positive DNA antibody of 4.8. What does this mean? It's like a foreign language to me.
  6. Hey Mary, thanks for the response. My doctor is a Rheumatologist. The first time I saw her she diagnosed me, on the spot, as having Scleroderma. Now, as my blood work keeps changing, she thinks I have Lupus. I am on two kinds of meds now ... Plaquuenil and Pantoloc. I am also on Advair Asthma. I honestly had to laugh when I read about you being known to sleep with a hat on ... I have too in the past!!! I too sleep with a heating pad, have lots of blankies on my bed, carry gloves everywhere, etc. Thanks for all the advice and plz keep in touch. Wow! Sure glad you changed doctors, Gidget. I understand that this disease is difficult to diagnose, but this is driving me nuts. Mary, I'm new to this site and really don t know how to e mail you. I would really like to get the directions on how to make the corn bags. I live in Newfoundland Canada and it is freezing here. We had snow flurries last week and I am about to die from the cold ... lol. Thanks again.
  7. I can only comment on prednisone. I have been on prednisone, on and off now, for the past 19 years for RA and Asthma. I find it works rather well actually.
  8. What is Fibromyalgia ... my doctor said I had it in my foot?
  9. ###### ... sounds way to familiar. I was on Ranitidine and I found them useful for about a month or so and then it was back to the air heaving. Now, I am on Pantoloc. I've only been on them for a week now, but I find that they are causing me to have more gas.
  10. Guys, I don't know what this means, but I had a positive ANA and a positive DNA antibody of 4.8. I have Raynaud's Phenomenon ... I get so cold that I think I am honestly going to die. My feet and hands feel like they are going to snap off if I move. Twice now I lost my bladder ... I had no control over it. I bloat very easily and heave 24/7. My legs turn black and blue. I had a vicious rash on my foot ... I break out in hives. First, the doctor said I had Scleroderma. Now, she's saying that she thinks I have Lupus. Oh my!!! My dermatologist thinks I have sustemic scleroderma which is diffuse. I have GERD, but no definitive skin changes in my hans. I have severe headaches and sometimes I can't even get out of bed.
  11. Hey! I too have trouble with lifting my arms. It feels like some sort of numbness and it happens in the mornings. Hopefully, it is nothing serious. Take care.
  12. Thank you to all who wrote in response to my post. I am experiencing shortness of breath, but I was diagnosed with Asthma about 5 years ago. I have a rash, (red bumps and dry, itchy skin on both arms up to my elbows,) both hands are shiny, dry, and the skin is very tight and painful, I have trouble swallowing, dizziness, severe headaches, swollen knees and feet, and am extremely tired ... I honestly cannot get enough sleep. I was also diagnosed with >>> forgive my spelling >>> Rheynods Phenomena a yr ago in April. As a child, I had Rheumatoid Arthritis as well. I just feel under the weather all the time.
  13. I just went to the doctor, Rheumatologist, last week and she said that she is 90% sure I have Scleroderma. Then, she said to me 4 times, "I hope nothing bad happens to you." Like are you trying to scare the stuffing out of me? She says she is certain that I am in the early stages. I then had to get blood work, x-rays, and urine samples. Now I have to visit a Dermatologist and get a cardiogram and the like done. Anyone got any words of comfort?
