  1. Digital Sympathectomy

Thanks Lisa. That's good news. I go on 11/11 for a consult. Then a pain test will be done to determine if the sympathectomy would be beneficial. I can't imagine it wouldn't be. Then the surgery will be scheduled. I'll keep you updated. Take care and get some rest. Sounds like you've been very busy. Purr
  2. Digital Sympathectomy

    Lisa....where are you????
  3. Four years!

There must be something in the air! My doctor and I were just talking about it being 3 years ago last July that I was diagnosed with MCTD. There have been a few changes, but nothing I can't live with!!! Chris
  4. Disability finally

Great news Sam. I'm very happy for you!
  5. Can anyone recommend a good, quiet air purifier? Between good old ragweed and the Sjogren's acting up, I need one badly. You can send me a PM (click on the envelope icon at the left of my message on the forum) with any brand name or model suggestions. Chris
  6. Sjogrens and Allergies

I met with one about two years ago and he wasn't a big help. He said it was hard to pinpoint anything specific and recommended what yours did. Something that was recommended to me for my Sjogren's was a nasal moisturizer gel to swab the inside of the nose. You have to be careful and not go too far up, just the nasal area that can be seen. That helps me a lot. Thanks for you advice. Chris
  7. Sjogrens and Allergies

Thanks Shelley. I actually have a humidifier in my bedroom, but haven't turned it on yet. I did last night and could tell a nice difference this morning. Will still need to look into the air purifier though. Seems like the really good ones are soooo expensive though. Chris
  8. Sjogrens and Allergies

Thanks Jeanne. Another thing I've notice is that now that it's chillier at night, the pesky gnats are going away!!!! yay Thanks again, Chris
  9. Banners across the top

I like the one that's there right now about nature. Thanks Shelley
  10. Right hand sympathectomy

I forgot to ask what doctor does the surgery? I should know but can't remember.
  11. Right hand sympathectomy

That's great Lisa. My rheumatologist talked to me about that surgery about this time last year. And for my right hand, too. The Raynaud's hasn't reached ulcer stage but I have a lot of trouble with dryness and cracking (on the right hand). She thought it would be good to stay ahead of the problems. One of my "big" concerns is cost. Medicare is my only insurance until I'm 65 unless I want to pay $600 a month. Indiana doesn't require insurance companies to have supplemental insurance for people with disability between 62 and 65. There's only 1 company that does. Oh well. My Raynaud's just keeps getting worse all of time so I really like the sounds of it. I certainly hope it does a lot for you!! :) Chris (Purr)
  12. Janey, Thanks for the information!! Seems like I forget things more and more lately. Nothing major, but it's still frightening. I have found that being around people (to talk to) helps a lot with vocabulary and being able to say what I mean to say. Thanks again, Purr
  13. Put onto Methotrexate

My experience is the same as Janey's. I have been on methotrexate since Oct. '07 and went to the injection in December. I definitely prefer the injection because of lack of side effects. I didn't experience any hair loss though. Christyh (Purr)
  14. Finger Nails

Lately I have noticed white lines, ridges, and dents in some of my finger nails. I did a search to find information but what I found is in medical terminology. Can you direct me to something easier to understand? Thanks, Christyh
  15. Finger Nails

Thanks again, kaykay. It was written for the average person and the pictures were very helpful. I'll take a print-out to my doctor when I go. Since I have osteoarthritis, scleroderma, lupus, raynauds, and other assorted diseases, it will probably be like tossing a coin. Vanessa and Ladyhawk, the website kaykay suggested is very good. Check it out. Shelley, thanks for your help too. Christyh
  16. Finger Nails

Thank you Kaykay! That is exactly what I was looking for. I let you know if I learn any more. Christyh
  17. Premarin (HRT)

That's funny. My trouble started when my doctor "cut" my dose of Premarin! It began as what the doctor thought was osteoarthritis in November and the following March I ended up in the hospital twice. By July, I was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (Lupus, Scleroderma, and Polymyositis). I already had Raynaud's. Christy
  18. re Update, surgery, lung

Sharon, You're in my thoughts. Christy
  19. Bad news ...

Hi Cheryl, I have a good friend who had the same thing and had surgery about 8 years ago. She is doing very well. Her follow-up checks show no signs of cancer now. I wish you the best and will put you in my thoughts. Christy
  20. This morning I woke up with a rosy red, burning face. It's not the first time. Is this part of scleroderma? Is it a flare-up? Since I also have Lupus, it could be that, too. Any comments? Thanks, Christy
  21. Face Redness and Burning

Hello "chickpea" Sweet! I guess we're just suppose to handle it. Not much else we can do. I also have a red mark on my neck, but that's because my sister-in-law got carried away trying to help me with my seat belt. :P There were 3 of us in the back seat and I was having trouble finding the belt latch. I'm never going to let her hear the end of that one. Christy
  22. Happy Holidays

OOOOH Sheryl, That was mean . It's suppose to warm up toward the end of the week, maybe get close to 70. Christy
  23. Happy Holidays

Hi Snowbird! Thanks for the Holiday wish. I hope everyone had a good day too. Christy
  24. Hi Amanda, I use "hook and eye" extensions on my bras when they start to get tight. Which is everyday! Christy
  25. Prednisone will do it. I take that along with MTX. Christy
