  7. Does the clinical context improve the reliability of rheumatologists grading digital ulcers (DU) in systemic sclerosis? The overall intra and inter–rater reliability of DU grading did not significantly improve with the clinical context and agreement between patients and rheumatologists was poor. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  8. Iloprost Found To Mitigate Raynaud’s Syndrome Symptoms and Heal Associated Digital Ulcers. Iloprost is a safe and effective therapy for secondary Raynaud’s syndrome as it can ease the disease’s symptoms, improve the disability grade and heal or prevent the development of digital ulcers. Scleroderma News, 08/14/2015. (Also see Raynaud's Treatments: Medications and Treatments for Digital Ulcers) This item was posted in the ISN Newsroom. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  9. Autoantibodies against Endothelin 1 Type A Receptor Are Strong Predictors of Digital Ulcers (DU) in Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Anti–ETAR autoantibodies can be used together with the presence of current or past DU to identify patients with SSc who are at risk for the development of subsequent DU. PubMed, 08/01/2015. (Also see Digital Ulcers) This item was posted in the ISN Newsroom. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  10. Study Discusses Three Therapies for Digital Ulcers in Systemic Scleroderma (SSc). Nonpharmacologic, pharmacologic, and surgical interventions are important for managing the patients who are affected by this complication. Scleroderma News, 07/01/2015. (Also see Treatments for Digital Ulcers) This item was posted in the ISN Newsroom. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  11. Digital ulcers (DUs) predict a worse disease course in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). In patients with SSc, a history of DUs at presentation predicts the occurrence of DUs at follow-up and is associated with cardiovascular worsening and decreased survival. PubMed, Ann rheumatologist Dis, 02/16/2015. (Also see Digital Ulcers) This item was posted in the ISN Newsroom. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  12. Blood flow in the hands of a predefined homogeneous systemic sclerosis population: the presence of digital ulcers (DUs) and the improvement with bosentan. No relationship was found between blood flow in the hands and the presence of DUs. After 12 weeks of bosentan treatment, blood flow had increased in the SSc patients but had not normalized to that of healthy subjects. PubMed, Rheumatology, 2014 Aug 22. (Also see: Tracleer/Bosentan For Digital Ulcers) This item was posted in the ISN Newsroom. Please check the newsroom daily for updates on scleroderma and other related articles.
  13. PubMed, Rheumatology, 2014 Aug 22. 21. Raynauds

I hope some of you can give me helpful information. My brother has been diagnosed with several auto immune diseases. One of them is Raynauds. Right now his fingers are in a terrible condition: black, drainage from around the nail, sensitivity in the fingers, etc. They are a mess. He is wearing gloves, on several medications and is being seen by a rheumatologist. Do any of you have this type of condition with your fingers and to the extreme like his fingers. We are very concerned that he may lose some of his fingers by just the appearance. Any helpful comments in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
