Welcome to the Forum, Felicia!! :bye:

I'm feeling happy today because 1) I've been offered an exciting new position, :VeryHappy: 2) a friend of mine was able to join in our circuit class at the gym. He had a series of strokes last year & was very poorly, but has made a marvellous recovery & it was so lovely to have him back with the rest of the class again.

Finally I ran 10 kilometres in 56 minutes and 10 seconds & my lungs & joints felt quite good after it, so many, many thanks to the wonderful team at The Royal Brompton Hospital.......without their marvellous treatment my quality of life would not be so good!! :VeryHappy:

Jeannie got me started on this- I'm happy because I just put another log into the wood stove and it's toasty warm in the house. And there is no snow yet...

I'm happy today because...

the sun is out and I am feeling good, I am meeting a high school friend for lunch, I have a roof over my head and food in my belly, I am in a loving relationship, I have good health insurance (!), there are good people in the world, AND

my new kidney is improving everything, all function tests are getting better and best of all, my rings fit on my fingers again! Surprise, surprise! I had put them away years ago, had the ones I wear resized a couple of times and the other day got them out and they fit!!!! :D I am back to being a ring on every finger girl!

Hi Miocean

I'm a 'ring on every finger girl' as well and in fact spent an absolute fortune having my wedding and engagement rings made larger, only for them to be too big once I went on my medication! I have two rings on my thumb now which I had to wear on my middle finger, so it shows how swollen my fingers were.

It's marvellous that your new kidney has made such an improvement to your quality of life; no wonder you feel so happy!! :VeryHappy:

My OT wants me to wear splints on my two index fingers. I HATE splints, he has made several for me over the years that I am "non-compliant" about wearing. But he just showed me some that are sterling silver and look like rings. He's going to make me a plastic one to see if it works and, although they are expensive, if they work I'll invest in them. I hate things that make me look ill to the world, like my oxygen, just a sign saying hello world, I'm sick. I guess I'm vain. :P

I'm sad today :crying: because I lost one of those rings I thought fit again! AND I have to wear a neoprene splint for my left thumb.

But I'm still happy :VeryHappy:

Ooh....sorry about your ring, Miocean. How infuriating!!

Perhaps you could decorate the splint with a few snazzy designs to make a statement and start a new fashion!!

No you are not vain. We already have to deal with a lot of restrictions in life that make us feel handicap, so we do not need more of "no you can not do that". At least I don't even though some people said they are tired of the "you do not look sick to me", I prefer that to the "poor baby. If that is being vain, I am there with you my friendwink.gif ,and Joelf's suggestion of making the splints look like fancy rings is great go for it..hugs Patty

GREAT IDEA! I have "bling" from decorating my masks. I'll have my husband glue them on. I can't do it, I don't have the small motor skills any more.

Miocean- here you were posting about blinging up your splint and I was over in the main forum saying the same thing. Sorry.

I did want to say that I am happy today because I went out between rain showers and dug a ditch. Yup- a ditch. It's only a shovel deep but it went about 20 feet. Hopefully it will divert some of the rain water from making a river through the horses's night pens.

I got wet and muddy but so satisfied with myself. I was so impressed with myself that I kept going to the window and looking at it.

It's funny that things that I used to consider to be a pain to have to do have now become a joy when I can.

Hi enjoytheride,

I so know what you mean about getting joy from chores that used to be a pain. I get such a sense of achievement doing some of the most mundane jobs ever, because I know one day it is quite possible that I may no longer be able to do these things, so each day I make the most of what I can still do and achieve and try to take what pleasure I can in these tasks.

Take care

Hi All

I'm happy today because it's my birthday. :)

The downside is that I'm a year older (boo-hoo!) but the upside is that I've had a meet today of The Scleroderma Society and met some really lovely people!! :happy-day:

HAPPY B-DAY JO!!

Glad your meeting went well, it's thanks to people like yourself that the Scleroderma Society UK now has 17 local groups that meet throughout the country, they're an amazing resource for people with scleroderma.

Take care.

]I'm happy today because I found my ring![/color] :VeryHappy: And you won't believe where...I had searched my pocketbook thinking it might have fallen off in there to no avail. Today I was getting my pen out of the side pocket and there was something around it, MY Ring! so strange a place but at least it showed up.
