mopsygirl
And was ANA positive. I guess this just solidifies what we already knew based on my symptoms. I am feeling optimistic about beginning the MTX, and hoping that we can get it into remission soon.
Joelf
Hi Kelsie I'm pleased to hear that you've had the results of your blood tests. :) I can empathise with you as I felt very much more relieved and positive when I actually found out what I had wrong with me and I felt I had a legitimate reason for having felt so ill. I have tested positive for the AntiPM/Scl and IgG antibodies and my blood tests showed antibodies with the speckled nucleolar pattern. I have to admit that it gave me a lot of pleasure googleing details and pictures of antibodies such as mine when I was first diagnosed ( I'm probably a bit sad though and need to get out more!! ) as I was very keen to find out as much as I could about Scleroderma. I've found that knowledge of this bizarre disease helps me to come to terms with it! ;) I'm glad you're feeling positive about taking Methotrexate; I'm on Azathioprine and Prednisolone and as soon as I started on my medication I felt much better, so I'm hoping you will have the same result! :VeryHappy: Do keep us posted! Amanda Thorpe
Hello Kelsie I hope you find the methotrexate helpful, I've been on it for about 2 years now I think. It can cause side effects like nausea and fatigue but they can wear off so don't be discouraged if you have any initially. I started methotrexate having developed unbearable side effects on mycophenolate and so far so good! Take car nd keep posting.
debonair susie
Hi mopsy, I'm glad you feel relieved to have an answer to what you already felt. I, too, hope the MTX works well for you! Sending Very Soft :emoticon-hug: s your way...
mopsygirl
Thanks for all of the support :) Is there a reason why some people have bloodwork that comes back positive and some people's bloodwork comes back negative?
Joelf
Hi Kelsie It does seem to be a rather bizarre situation that people who have many of the recognisable symptoms and to all intents and purposes have Scleroderma, also have their blood tests come back negative. I know this applies to quite a few of our members. I'm no doctor, but the only thing I can think is that this is another peculiar phenomenon of this very complex disease.
Sweet
Sounds like good news! I'm glad you're feeling good about this! :happy-day:
Robyn Sims
Hi Kelsie, Yes, finally getting a name for your symptoms, even the name scleroderma, does provide some relief. It also gives you validation. I have known some people who have all the symptoms but no positive on the blood test. Often they are told it's a connective tissue disorder. I also hope the methotrexate is the right drug for you. Keep us posted and we'll be thinking of you. Robyn
