Skin tightening

4 posts in this topic

Hello all! I hope that everyone is doing okay.

I have a quick question about skin tightening. Is it possible that it begins in your lower extremities? For the past several weeks the skin on my lower legs has felt very tight and is very shiny. I spend the majority of the day on my feet (usually 8-9 hours) and my feet do swell but usually by the time I have rested them for a bit after I get home the swelling subsides but the tightness remains. I am also getiing what looks to be varicose veins around my ankles and on the sides of my feet. I was just wondering if this sounds more like an edema problem or if this sounds more related to the scleroderma.

A very happy day to all

Hi Tamara,

Sorry to hear that you're having a problem with skin tightening.

I have very little skin involvement (merely the tips of my fingers) so can't advise you from my own experience. However, I've included a link for skin fibrosis and also an interesting thread on skin thickening which I hope will give you some more information.

I expect some of our members will be along with more first hand advice.

Kind regards,

Hello Tamara

My skin tightening began on my lower extremities, described as atypical presentation. It started on my right shin, appeared on the left, then went down to the ankles, feet and then up the legs whilst appearing then on the forearms then hands, then up the arms, then on the torso.

Anything is possible in the area of skin tightening and don't let medical professionals tell you otherwise.

Take care.
