Edometrial Biopsy

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I have to have an Endometrial biopsy tomorrow and my gynecologist was concerned about me being at higher risk for infection and wanted to talk to my rheumatologist first. Well, she still has not and it bothers me that she is going to go ahead and do the procedure when she has not even talked to him. She was the one worried in the first place and now it's like she's blowing it off because she never reached him.

I think I will take it upon myself and call my rheumatologist.

What do y'all think? Is it really that risky? I am on Cellcept.

I am afraid I have no information on the risks of the procedure while taking Cellcept, but I do think you should follow through with the biopsy. I would, anyway. Anything that is causing such unusual symptoms could be dangerous to ignore. I found evidence of a malignant endometrial tumour that was fortunately of a slow growing type. Had it been a quicker type, it would have progressed to a higher stage before my hysterectomy. I had endometriosis and other related less scary problems, but I would not put it off. Have you asked about ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in this situation?

Warm wishes,

Jefa

Thanks Jefa....my rheumatologist and gynecologist finally talked and everything is set to go tomorrow. I am NOT having any weird symptoms but I had an abnormal pap and I don't have cycles anymore. NIce....I'm 39 so maybe it's just that time. I wonder if it's cause or effect from scleroderma. One can never tell.

She did mention that if they didn't find anything with these biopsies, we may do an ultrasound. I will chat with her more tomorrow. I just hope I get quick results.

Hey Jen,

Yikes! I am sorry it hurt so much. Hopefully now that it is over, you are feeling better! Any idea when they are supposed to have the results back? Please do let us know what you learn.

Warm wishes,

Heidi

Heidi,

I should have results within 7 to 10 days. I hope I'm not all scarred up because of sclero, and that's the underlying problem. HOPEFULLY it's nothing else...i'm not thinking like that....being positive.

Jennifer,

I am so sorry. I had one one time and it does hurt. It's like you can't believe it could hurt that much.
