Not sure what I have any more.....

Hi, my name is Katherine.

I got my first "spot" when I was six on my torso and the "bruise" never went away. I got another one when I was 12, had a skin biopsy and was diagnosed with Morphea. After being told over and over there was nothing they could do, I lost mobility in my big toe as my tissue deteriorated and I stopped going. This was 2003; I'm now going to be 23 and another spot has formed...... on my knee. I'm scared of what will happen as I saw what it did to my toe and when it attempts to bend, my leg goes into all out spasms. I have little tissue left on my shin and can easily feel the bone. I see a joint doctor (so can't spell it); I'm scared I'll need a total knee replacement at 23, so now what?

Hi Katherine,

Welcome to these forums!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Morphea and that it appears to be flaring up again. I can understand that you must be feeling very worried and scared about it.

However, there are effective treatments for Morphea particularly phototherapy and UVA1. I do suggest that, if possible, you consult a Scleroderma expert and then you won't have to worry about a knee replacement.

Now that you've found our forums and joined our community, please do keep posting and let us know how you are faring.

Hi Katherine,

Welcome to the Sclero Forums. I'm so glad you found us, but I'm sorry it's because you were diagnosed with Morphea. Jo gave you a couple of really good links, so I hope you find them helpful.

Do keep us posted on your progress.

Warm and gentle hugs,
