Hi Buttons,

I just read through your thread and the results of your surgery and am THRILLED for you , at this juncture, of the benign finding!!!

A major surgery but this far down the road on your recovery, I am thinking of you and sending good vibes your way for the very best!

Thankfully things have improved quite a bit. I feel I had a real turning point last week when suddenly things seemed to be so much better. My bowels have settled quite a bit (but still have a way to go yet) and I'm eating much better except for some foods like onions. I just keep trying different things & if I have an adverse reaction I leave it & try again in in a few days. I am also walking about & getting out that bit more & have even managed to drive a short distance yesterday.  :emoticons-yes:

I go for my 6 week checkup in the beginning of February but I think things are progressing well on the whole, with just a few little niggles but those should improve as time goes on.

Thanks to all for your kind support it has been much appreciated

Well I saw the consultant this week and he has already booked me in for my next colonoscopy! He also said that the growth had been pre cancerous and in his opinion I had been extremely lucky that they caught when they did. He checked the wound and I do not have to go back and see him since its just time to recover, he did say I could start building up more in a couple of weeks time.

Inkedup, sorry I hadn't replied to your question but I just simply had a very large growth in the right side of my bowel. But my brother had ulcerative colitis and had to have his bowel removed a good number of years ago, he now has a stoma and copes extremely well with it and he is certainly much better in himself than he was before.

Hi Buttons,

Thank you for the update.  I'm very relieved that your surgery went so good.  I'm sorry the results were pre-cancerous but very glad that it was caught in time!  And what a relief it must be for you to have things getting back to semi-normal.

Thank you for all the messages of support which have helped to keep me going over the last few months. I do still get some bad days but at least more of them are good now!

I'm still trying to sort out the insurance claim from having to cancel our trip to New Zealand, we are still waiting on some more information from the general practitioner even though it was the consultant who filled in the medical form & also sent a very comprehensive letter explaining that it was him who had said we must cancel because I wouldn't be fit to travel. Insurance companies really are not the easiest of people to deal with, this is the first time I've ever claimed on holiday insurance let alone having to cancel such a special holiday!

VERY pleased to hear you are stringing together more good days than bad!

Aaaaaw Buttons...I'm SO sorry your holiday trip had to be cancelled, but I hope you are able to make up for it later on.

Continued better days ahead for you :balloons:
