Janey And Cellcept Treatment

Recommended Posts

How are you doing? When do you start taking CellCept? I was curious...was your Dr. only displeased with your decision to begin CellCept, because there were more success stories with treatments such as Cytoxan and not with Cellcept?

I recently read an article on the Internet (of course) that led me to believe that Cytoxan was much more effective if used during early stages of lung involvment opposed to later on. I wonder if there is any truth to that. My Dr. did not give me much of an option when I started CellCept (which is fine, because at the time, I was so new to it all and not ready to make that kind of decision for myself).

I've been taking CellCept for a year and a half. My lungs have remained within 10% of ups and downs and apparently that is good. I am very anxious to have pfts in April.

Anyway, I hope you do well on Cellcept.

Love to the cats,

Hey Girl,

I started the Cellcept on Saturday. He's got me taking 500mg twice a day for two weeks, the 1000 mg twice a day. So far so good. The reason he started me out on Cytoxan was that it had a larger clinical trial than the cellcept trial. I definitely understand this reasoning, but after the problems I had after 3 weeks on cytoxan, I'm very leary of it. Thank goodness the doctor understands and was supportive when I told him I wanted to try cellcept.

It certainly is encouraging to hear that you are tolerating the cellcept after 1.5 years and that things are stable. Right now I could definitely deal with some stability. I'm suppose to get a PFT after being on cellcept for a month. I hope it's better than the last one. I couldn't stop coughing so the test was basically invalid.

Thanks for asking!

Big Hugs to you,
