Diet, Holistic, and Natural Treatments

3 posts in this topic

Hi! I posted before asking about correlations between medications and diagnosis.

I am now wanting to ask about diet, holistic and natural treatments. I am a pharmacy tech grad. My sister, Hope, is ten years old. She was recently diagnosed.

While researching, I came across different information that pointed to a correlation between diet and diagnosis/treatment. For example, the correlation between a gluten free diet and scleroderma.

Has anyone taken a natural/holistic approach to dealing with the disease and its symptoms?

Have you noticed a difference? Good or bad experience?

Thanks :)

Hi Hopeforhope,

Although I've been diagnosed with systemic Scleroderma for the past five and a half years, I don't really do natural/holistic treatments, having gone down the conventional medicine route.

However, we do have Medical pages on Causes of Scleroderma, Scleroderma and Alternative Therapies, Diet and Scleroderma and Celiac Disease and Gluten Sensitivity  which I hope will help to answer some of your questions.

Kind regards,

Hello Hopforhope

Welcome to the forums and I am sorry that your sister has scleroderma. I have diffuse systemic scleroderma, morphea and bullous morphea having been diagnosed 7 years ago. I am with Jo in that I stick with prescribed, known medication. That's not to say I would not use any "natural" remedies if I found any that helped, after checking with, my doctor of course.

Take care.
