New Zealand Holiday

Recommended Posts

I have just had a fantastic holiday in New Zealand, it is a beautiful place and there is so much to see around every corner!

We toured the South & North Island in a motorhome, although a lot of travelling I would say to anyone go there if you can!

I so envy those of you who live there and if I was younger would certainly like to move there.

Hi Buttons,

It sounds absolutely wonderful, lucky you! :)

What a wonderful place to visit and I'm so pleased to hear that you had such a fantastic time there. :emoticons-clap:

I know that you've been looking forward to it for ages and I'm so glad that it came up to all your expectations. :woohoo:

Sorry Judy but we did have a hectic couple of days at the start of the holidays in Auckland, partly to get over the long flights and so that we could meet our fellow motorhomers, an evening meal together (about 22 couples) and the following day where shown around the kind of vans we would have and then we flew down to Christchurch to actually collect the vans and begin the journey around your beautiful islands. I just wish we could have spent a longer time in some areas because there was so much to see and do. I did do too much at times and am still suffering with my joints but then what a holiday!! Loved it!

Well, Buttons I am pleased you have been here and you enjoyed your visit.

Yes there is a lot to see and do, and quite a lot of it is very strenuous so I am not surprised that you feel you overdid it a bit.   We are a similar sort of size to the UK but not so crowded!!!  and without the history which we found so interesting in your part of the world, but it is certainly very scenic and there seems to be a surprise view round every corner.

One criticism has been that some people find that the Camper Van companies tend to move you on too quickly.   Sometimes it is necessary to smell the flowers along the way (or smell the sulphur in some places) and if you are too rushed it gets hard to take it all in.   Looking at the map it seems easy to travel big distances in a short time, but as you have no doubt learned, our roads are not built for hard and fast travelling.

Best wishes
