Face numbness? Anyone?

6 posts in this topic

I have a question for you guys. Usually my face was tingling and eyelid was pulsing, but this time it's really face numbness. Whole right side. Starting with forehead, mouth, jaw. I can't even speak, it's so numb. Can it maybe because with medications that I am taking for scleroderma?

Please, help!

Hi Luke,

Welcome to these forums!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing facial numbness and it is possible that medications could be causing the problem. However, it's equally possible that it could be a completely unrelated problem, which is why, as I have no medical training, I would suggest that you go back to your doctor for further investigations to be made.

The problem with having a disease such as scleroderma is that it is easy to blame every obscure symptom on the disease, whereas it could well be a new symptom and having scleroderma makes it more important to query this with your doctor.

I've found another thread on Facial Numbness, which you may find helpful and informative.

Kind regards,

Possibly medication related, but also a possibility of Bell's Palsy. Could be circulatory too, but does need to be checked out to be sure it is not related to a transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Hey.

Thanks for the other thread - that was very helpfull.

Still I went to see my doctor - Better safe than sorry

She could not find any further illness or disease. It has gotten better soon. It might have been because I changed medication a while ago.

I had facial numbness 5-6 years before I was diagnosed with Scleroderma. I had facial numbness in 1998 and doctors went through many tests such as MS, spinal fluid, brain scans, etc and I was diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2004. So, I have scleroderma for 19 years. It is in remission-?, but it continues to do severe internal damage and there is no treatment for it.

Kind regards,

Kamlesh
