With my scleroderma, my hands wrists and arms past my elbows have tightened skin. Can’t make a fist since May.  Can’t bend my wrists and getting harder to bend my elbows. Having occupational therapy but does seem to be helping. Taking Cellcept and Humira.

Has anyone known for this to loosen up? Also starting to feel the tightness in my thighs. Also painful due to rheumatoid arthritis.

Hi Regina,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with skin tightening, which must be very uncomfortable and debilitating for you.

Thankfully, I have very little skin involvement (merely the tips of my fingers) so I can't advise you from my own experience. However, I know that we have had members whose skin has softened over time, so it is possible that things could improve for you. I've included a link to our medical page on Skin Fibrosis, which I hope you'll find helpful (there is a section on Spontaneous Remission) but I would always advise that you contact your scleroderma expert if your symptoms deteriorate or you develop new problems, as they are the best person to suggest any other treatments that might help you.

Kind regards,
