Taking chemotherapy for scleroderma.

Recommended Posts

Hi Jaime,

Welcome to these forums!

When you mention chemotherapy in relation to scleroderma, I assume that you're referring to such drugs as cyclophosphamide. The amount of the drug given is not as strong as the dosage for cancer patients, so therefore the side effects are not so serious e.g. the hair loss and sickness etc.

When first diagnosed, I had six months of IV cyclophosphamide, but thankfully, as stated above, my hair loss (which was my greatest fear) was negligible and the anti sickness drugs I took were fairly effective in stopping the nausea. It was well worth it, as the treatment in my case was very successful.

Kind regards,
