Face tightening pressure on nose

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have been having weird sinus problems since 2018.  I have swollen turbinates and a deviated septum.  This is every day.  I take fluticasone, saline and my nose hurts.  Is this some kind of sign of face changes from my diagnoses? Does anyone else have this?

I have a diagnosis of Limited Scleroderma.  It is a real problem as it feels like pressure.  I have tried to ask my Dr to try another BP med as it could be a side effect.  Crazy thing. I have even asked if it could be Sjögren's disease.  She says I don’t have the antibodies.  Help

Sincerely

Marybeth

Hi Marybeth,

Although Im not sure it's related I too have sinus issues. It's a daily thing, and I get infections frequently . I'm currently on antibiotics. I've asked my specialist about it, and he assures me its unrelated. It may be worth your while to get a sinus CT. to see if there is anything causing this ie, infection, fungus etc.

Warm and gentle hugs,

I have had excellent luck with adding a few drops of baby shampoo to my sinus wash. There are many research papers on the subject and I would encourage you to take a look if you’re so inclined.

You may also want to see an endocrinologist to rule out a pituitary tumor – after three failed surgeries I finally figured it out myself - that’s what was causing my recurrent deviated septum!

I hope you feel better very soon. Take care.

Hi and thank you for replies.  It is a daily issue.  It started a couple years ago after I took huge doses of Vit D for a deficiency.  It has been awful.  I have just had 2 MRI and a CT scan and they see nothing in my sinus or head.  So guess I am normal there.  My family thinks it may be something I am ingesting.  I take an Ace Inhibitor  but they say that can’t be it.  My sinus get worse after taking my med and it also has a duretic in it.

I had constant pressure from my sinuses through to my eardrums. I've been prescribed Beconase nasal spray, which I've used once a day for about 4 years now.  It solves the problem, though it returns if I forget to squirt for 2 or 3 days.

My general practitioner was considering whether to investigate further, but when I said I thought it was probably an imuno response, she decided not to bother, having checked that Beconase was okay for long term use (didn't question my comments, agree or disagree though).

There are a few different types of this treatment if the one I am using ever becomes ineffective.

Thank you so much.  Sounds like I’m not the only one.  Is this Becomase the same as Flonase?  That is what my ENT said to try but doesn’t really work that good. I had a bout of vertigo.  Never had anything like this.  Do you have this every day and it makes me shakey?

GP recommended two squirts up each nostril morning and evening.  That was enough to clear the problem in a week or two.

I find just an evening dose is sufficient to keep the problem at bay, though if I miss two or three days it does return.

I have no side effects whatsoever and know many people who take similar medications with no problems either.
