Sheryl
Jennifer. Take pictures often. You now have 8 weeks to get a picture or two of what the first appointment accomplished. That may be a good thing that you have a long wait between visits. Giving your facial skin layers a longer recovery time. The end results are all that will matter to you. I am excited for you. CraigR
I had laser treatment this morning for telangiectasias. It also felt like pin-sticks. I asked the doctor about the laser. It is a KTP laser, Diolite by Iridex, 532 NM wavelength. It is one of the milder lasers that doesn't pierce very far, so good for broken viens/capillaries, but not strong enough for hair removal. The doctor aims a pen-shaped device at the individual spots. I had this done about a year ago, but I didn't follow up to get areas that didn't "take". This time I got another appointment in about three weeks. Unfortunately, I didn't get any "before" pictures. Craig
Clementine
Craig, I'm happy for you!!! I hope it works on you. Does your skin look any different right now? It's been two days now and I look the same. There's no scarring, no scabs, swelling, nothing. One would never know. The last time I got lasered (five years ago) I had scratches. Did your Dr. recommend 3 weeks waiting for the next appointment? Mine said 6 weeks but I think that was only because he is out of the office until then. Stay out of the sun! kelowna52
Jennifer, that is so cool. I'm so glad you decided to go for it and give it a try. I hope it all works out for you. I think, I waited about 3 weeks in between times. Take care and good luck. Jackie S.
Sweet
Jen, How are things looking now?
Clementine
Sweet, I still have prominent telangiectasias. I see a vague change....some dots are not so red but they are still definite. I am probably the only one that can see a change. I am discouraged. I've read that the first treatment provides the most results. We'll see. Thanks for asking! Sweet
Jen don't give up. When your doctor gets back from vacation just continue with treatments. It will be interesting to see how he feels you have responded from the treatment.

CraigR
Went in for second laser treatment for telangiectasias 5 days ago. The doctor turned up the power a bit, since I had no trouble with the last treatment. The laser was KTP Diolite - fairly low power, meant to clear up broken capillaries, and targets each one individually. There is definite improvement. I am pleased with how it has come out, especially after the second treatment. The doctor said that treating telangiectasias is rather rare - so he seemed to learn from the first treatment and did a better job (probably by turning the power up) the second time. Still some variation in facial pigment (like the average person of my age), but now does not have the spotted scleroderma look. The doctor recommended against using "V Beam" laser, which targets large areas and has way too much power, as it can lead to some scarring. In his opinion, these should only be used on "Port Wine" stains (nevus). Craig
Piper
Hi, I'm glad to hear that you folks are seeing some positive results from the laser. I went in to have a few skin tags removed from my neck and under my arm about 6 weeks ago with a laser. Now I have large red spots instead of skin tags that don't seem to be going away. My mother went with me and had some removed at the same time and she doesn't have a mark where hers were removed. Must be my skin. Oh well, what's a few more spots, as long as they're not on my face. Hugs, Piper
Jordan's Mommy
Jennifer, Is Cynergy laser the same as IPL? I had an RN who does IPL at the spa where I get facials at tell me that it works wonders for skin discoloration and telangiectasias. She says 3 treatments could take care of many problems (at the cost of $900 for all three). Just wondering... Jennifer
Clementine
Hi Jennifer, I am not sure if Cynergy is the same. I think Cynergy is one of the newer lasers. I don't go back to my dermatologist until September but I will ask. The price is about the same for what I paid for 3 treatments. You should let me be the guinea pig. I am on treatment one and it's no change at all. I am not very optimistic about the treatment. Take care, Jennifer
CraigR
I am very happy with the results after my second treatment. Big improvement (check my posting from yesterday). Cost has been $180 per treatment. Craig
Clementine
I had my 2nd laser treatment today. There was a cancelation so I got in 3 weeks early. The Dr. used a stronger laser and I could even feel the difference. I am thinking that this time will make a big difference because now he knows my skin and he knows what doesn't work. Craig, I asked him about IPL and he does use that laser for other things but for telangiectasias from an underlying condition he uses Cynergy. We'll see. Jen
Clementine
My last post about the IPL laser was meant for Jennifer, not Craig..oops..sorry. xo Jen
