It passes quickly

Yet lasts forever

It is very valuable

But you can't hold it

There is never enough

Yet people waste it

We monitor it

And live by it

It governs our lives

Without it there would be nothing else...

Time.

Ah, lovely, Barefut. Most of mine are in violation of the forum guidelines.

This one should work.

potter

sometimes I need to make a pot

sometimes I want to play

sometimes I long to wallow

in the wetness of the clay

sometimes I want to watch the wheel

and listen to it sing

or contemplate in silence

why I ever bought the thing

I wonder in amazement

when I wander off in thought

not knowing whether I'll return

as potter or as pot

In looking for a particular post of mine over on The Lupus Site, I stumbled upon this poem I wrote before my sclero diagnosis.

*******************************************************************

When lupus is flaring, all sounds seem blaring

and my hair falls out of my head.

My hips and my shoulders feel like they are boulders

and I can barely get out of my bed.

My hands, they will swell and my eyes, they will well,

with the tears of frustration and pain.

My plans and my chores, they go right out the door,

as for progress, there is no gain.

My kids think I'm crazy, my husband thinks I'm lazy

and I think I'm going insane.

My brain keeps on fogging, I'd like to go jogging

and I can't remember the neighbor kid's name.

I'm all out of rhyme at this moment in time,

but later, I will come back to it.

So now it's your time to make up a rhyme,

come on, I know you can do it.

Just add your lines, right here to mine,

and soon we'll have a big verse.

Count blessings or vent, whatever your bent,

but for goodness sake, don't curse!

I sat in the hot tub today

The water as still as glass

Except for the gentle rippling made by my heartbeat

A reminder that I was still alive

Looking out into the woods I could see tiny new buds on the trees

The birds were singing

The air smelled fresh and clean

The grass was green again and it wouldn't be long until spring

My cat jumped up to say hello and curled up on my towel

I closed my eyes and raised my face to the sun, savoring the moments

All was right with the world

At least for a little while

Ten years ago

And it seems like yesterday

Yesterday

Seems like ten years ago

Where does it all go?

Time, like a freight train

Goes rushing by

Yes it does fly

People and places come and go

Only their faces do we know?

Another birthday

And we think we're getting old

Or so we're told

Ten years ago

And it seems like yesterday

The way we laughed and played

Makes us sad now

And we wish we knew how

To do it all again
