It's a Boy !

Recommended Posts

Got a call today for a pure bred Cocker Spaniel surrendered by a family not more than an hour before I got to the shelter.

His name WAS Bailey (NOW Oliver). He's 1 years old, buff and white, knows sit, stay, roll over. He's neutered and looks and smells fresh out of the showroom. They offered for me to foster, but it's a done deal and they are bringing the contract over on Tuesday. I left the shelter with Oliver at 3:15, the time Truman passed a week ago today. When I got home, the vet had left a message she was bringing Tru's ashes over tonight. That little sweetie Tru is working overtime for me up there!

Oliver and Mia get along great, although he's a little rough and tumble baby. :) Mia's trying to keep up.

Linda,

That's wonderful that you got another cocker spaniel! I'm very happy for you. It's also nice that the dog is trained and knows some tricks. Maybe I missed something, but is Mia another cocker spaniel?

Best to you,

Sherion

Thank you all for your warm wishes. Oliver is such a doll. If he tries to sleep any closer to me, I'll be knocked out of bed. He stays by my side constantly, but seems to have an extreme interest in my mending foot. I gave him lots of toys to keep him occupied instead.

Sherion: Mia is also a Cocker Spaniel. I rescued her from abusive conditions created by a neighbor about four years ago. They kept her chained to a garage day and night, winter and summer. She ate off newspapers and drank out of a vase; slept on the concrete floor.

To this day, she's a little "skiddish" and has a constant respiratory problem from the elements. Snores like the dickens too, but such a kind and gentle little girl. She was never used to being in a home, and to this day she acts like a perfect guest and is in love with the feel of carpet, furniture, biscuit treats, etc.

Oh Tru!

I so happy to hear about your newest member of your family. He sounds perfect. I'm sure he was chosen especially for you by your Tru Blue from above.

Take care and stay warm,

Michelle

Linda,

So glad to hear that Oliver is adapting to his new home so well.

How wonderful of you to take over the love and care of Mia. She must really appreciate all you have done for her. I truly believe that animals know when they are loved and well cared for, especially when they have been abused.

How sweet that you saved Oliver. My sister has three precious cockers. They are such cute and sweet dogs, but aren't they all!!! He is lucky to have such a caring mom. I love it when they follow me around everywhere. I have one that is currently resting on my lap and arm as I type, and one is above me, halfway on my head!

Oh, and one of my girlfriends just made them spa robes. Yes, spa robes. They are made of terry cloth and they tie at their tummys. My dogs hate clothes but they look so cute in them and they also were told by their vet they needed them in the winter...LOL.

Congrats on Ollie, Oliver, Oll Oll.
