Finally have appt. with Sclero Specialist

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon everyone!

I finally was able to schedule an appointment with the scleroderma clinic at UCSF (Dr. Kari Connolly) for May 5. That gives me a month to make sure I have all the records I need.

When I saw a rheumatologist one year ago I spent 2 months collecting past medical records, hoping for a definitive answer, but the doctor never even looked at them. So I don't want to kill myself trying to track everything down if I don't need it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should bring with me?

I've already faxed the referral with my most recent labs, but they are a year old. My primary care physician is willing to order new labs, but isn't sure what the sclero doctors will want.

Thanks so much!

Hi Bunky,

Great news that you were able to get in with a specialist. Can you contact the specialist and ask what records the sclero doctor may want? This way you aren't running around in circles. (I know the feeling :( ).

I would think any x rays, blood work, sonograms and if you've been to a dermatologist, any reports from that. Also any meds you may be on.

Good luck!!!!

Karen

Guest SADIE

Bunky, I'm glad you have a appt next month. My Mom always takes alot of notes at my appts so she takes them with us plus, a complete list of meds that I'm on. She has made a little journal book about test I've had done, meds that I've been on and etc.I wish I could help you more.

You're in my thoughts,

Sadie

I'm glad you have an appointment. When I was running around for 2 years trying to get diagnosed, I took copies of all my labs, office notes and tests reports since the inception of my symptoms to all appointments. The doctors were very appreciative as they don't always get a complete history because they don't know what's been done. I now just ask for copies of everything I have done and keep it in a binder to take with me to all appointments. That way if something hasn't gotten to them, I can pull it out for them to make a copy of it. I also keep a list of current meds and my phisician names, specialty, address and phone numbers in the binder too.

Best wishes!!

I may have Scleroderma, but Scleroderma doesn't have me!
