Ambien Nightmare

Barbara,

Somehow I missed this thread, so I apologize for coming in late. WOW - what an experience! I'm glad you were able to get in to see your doctor and he's trying to get something else working for you. However, most of all, I'm glad that you do have such a supportive and understanding family. What a jewel of a daughter! Of course she's probably just a reflection of her mother.

I truly hope something like this never happens again and that you and the doctor can straighten out your meds to help it prevent it from happening. Very weird reaction you had! Bless your heart!

Big Hugs to you and all of your family,

Oh that's wonderful news. Lunesta was the name of the other sleep aid I took, but couldn't remember the name of the other day. I will keep you in my thoughts!

I may have Scleroderma, but Scleroderma doesn't have me!

Wow, that is a scary story. I know I have seen Double with Ambien and I have read of wild stories with ambien but you are the first to confirm that it could happen to anyone. How did you figure out how many you took? I am so glad you came out of it OK. SUsie54( Haven't posted in a long time, been overwhelmed by alot of life going on)

I had just gotten my refill on Monday, so my daughter counted how many pills were left in the bottle. I do have one theory though....like I said I have taken them for years without any problems. The generic form of it became available about a year or so ago, so now I get generic...well, I wonder if the manufacturer of the generic pills I got this time had something wrong with them????Like I said, I had just gotten the refill on Monday and this happened that night. B) but like I said, it's just a thought. I also had heard of things like this on the news. I don't know if you remember but a while back there was some politician that had a bad car wreck and he blamed the ambien. Said he was "sleep driving". He didn't remember anything until after his wreck. When that happened, I thought to my self..."yeah..right buddy" I thought he was "full of it" and just trying to find something to blame other than himself, Well, now that I've had this happen, I realize he was telling the truth.

Peace :)

relicmom,

that could very well be, that the generic form had something to do with it. Although I beleive all active ingreedients have to be the same as the name brand. Its a tough one to figure out.

I have been taking Lunesta, and it works well. Maybe look into switching?

Oh and whew that you can't overdose on the Ambien. What a releif that is.

Barbara,

Sorry to hear about your episode. I have tried several sleeping medications – Rozerem, Lunesta, Ambien, and few more. Only one helps is Temazepam (which is generic for Restoril). I take 30mg every night; it works most of the time. Sometimes I get morning hangover and drowsiness.

Kind regards,

Kamlesh
