Disability application

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I missed reading all your interesting postings, which has always make feel that I’m not alone suffering from this terrible disease. Lately I’m experiencing constant pain, but finally I applied for disability benefit online and I would appreciate everyone input on what is going to happen after that. Does the Social Security Administration will call me for a personal/ phone interview?

Thanks in advance for everyone who might reply

Alice

Hi Alice,

I called SS to apply. They set up a phone interview with me, asked me all the questions I'm assuming were on the online application you did. It took an hour. About a week later I received a packed of information asking me a few more questions and then about a week and a half after that I had money in the bank! Approximately a week after the money came, I finally got a letter stating I was awarded disability.

Warm and gentle hugs,

Alice:

I applied on line in December 08 and SS called the next day to confirm and tell me I will receive a letter asking for my original birth certificate. It was a five minute phone call.

In March, I received a letter telling me to meet with the State doctor on 4/23, which I did.

I am supposed to hear this month of a decision, but as yet, have not.

I am told that a decision from SSA is generally 5-8 months, but every case is different so it could be sooner.

Hi Alice, I applied online and the next day someone called to say they had received the application and it looked good and was very complete. ( You can track your application on-line to see how it's going. ) About six months later I got a letter saying I was approved. I never had an interview of any kind. I think a good steady work record and a thorough application helped. Good luck with yours, Birdman

Hugs for All,
