Family re-united to honor loved one

Recommended Posts

As you are aware, this past week was one of lows and highs... for us.

With the passing of my ex-father-in-law, it brought great sadness to me AND my husband, as we thought a great deal of him. However, I will always hold a special place in my heart for him and look forward to reminiescing (sp) w/my kids and grands...his grands and great-grands.

With this comes the gathering of loved ones who are with heavy hearts during times such as these.

All of us have difficulty when it comes to our loved ones' emotional hurts and the need to comfort at such times.

With my hubby's dr app't and tests times the same time as the memorial service, we did not attend. There was a luncheon after the service, but I opted not to go, as I had a sense it was best to keep a low profile.

I knew my ex-SIL would need comforting after out of town family returns home, so I plan to take her to lunch in a couple of weeks. Because her 2 boys are grown and out of the family home, she'll need the most comforting of all.

She has 2 brothers: My ex-husband, who is her oldest brother and the dad to my children and her youngest brother. She has only one sister, who is second to the youngest.

All of the children, grands and great-grands were there... including my daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law, who hadn't been back to MT for 7 years. However, hubby and I had moved for here, by then.

So... the last time I saw them was when my dad passed away...11 years ago in May.

Anyway... Long story longer...! My granddaughter (will be 15 in August) called and said they would be coming over to visit my mother and me and my hubby. I was floating on a cloud... STILL am! We had a wonderful visit and got a few four generation pictures of my mother, daughter, granddaughter and me.

They had to leave on Friday morning as the trip to and fro is a minimum of 18 hours...they wanted to have some downtime before my sister-in-law had to go back to work.

To be able to touch... to hold... my daughter, my granddaughter is just something only a mom/grandma can feel... complete. It had been such long time since I had held either of them and I just didn't want to let them go. I so hope we can be together again...soon.

Before I float off of the forum, I'm going to end this LONG message... I just wanted to share this with y'all!

Lovin' Hugs,

Susie
