living linda
Have any of you noticed your earlobes shrinking? I have always had smaller ears, but my lobes are to the point I can no longer wear earrings. Just wondering.
Shelley Ensz
Dear Linda, I may be wrong, I often am, but I think you are the first report I've encountered about shrinking ear lobes. People with widespread skin involvement might have experienced this with diffuse scleroderma. I'd be interested to know if Razz has experienced this? In case you missed it, here is the link to her ISN YouTube Video.
Amanda Thorpe
Living Linda Shrinking earlobes? Oh great so I can add this to my shrinking mouth and become a one woman freak show, somebody throw me some peanuts! Seriously, I have diffuse SSc and can't say I have experienced this or know of anyone who has. You could be the first, you're a trendsetter! I'll watch replies with interest because something has clearly made you earlobes shrink if you can't now get earrings in. Take care. Amanda
Gidget
My ear lobes have shrunk as well. Gidget
fragiledancer2
Yup- 10 years diffuse, shrunken lobes-I try to stretch them gently or wear heavier earrings sometimes to pull them down. Also, thanks to all who replied to my Gleevec question.
living linda
Just when I thought I was going to be a trendsetter I hear I'm not the only one with the shrinking earlobes! I do think the side show might be something to think about though. You know todays economy and all. Would anyone be interested going on the road with me? You all do make me smile and laugh and that's a good thing isn't it.
PrincessB
My ear lobes have shrunk as well, and the holes had closed up completely and I had to repierce them.
razz
I didn't think my ears were that noticeable! I guess I should add shrunken ears  to my list. What's next....shrunken head probably. I've always had small ears and thought they were cute looking. Well, they did get a wee bit smaller to the point where I can't put earrings on anymore but it doesn't bother me. I was thinking about getting my ears repierced since I miss wearing my earrings. Razz
sclerolady
My ear lobes have gotten smaller, but I can still wear earrings. I was diagnosed with CREST though.
thisisme
I didn`t reply to this, when I first saw it, Ears and noses, are the only part of our bodies, that continue to grow, or so I was led to believe! I looked at one, Nah! growing, then the other EEEk, it`s shrunk, I wear pearl studs and there is no lobe behind part of it. Good job no one can see both at once :-)
MichelleP
Pain from my right ear woke me up moments ago. First thing I did was check myself in the mirror then Google. I feel like my ear has been shrinking for months now and the pain from my inner ear has spread to my earlobe. This is the only website I found regarding the topic. I'm now very concerned and a little scared that I can't find articles about this. I guess I'll go to the doctor.
Joelf
Hi Michelle, Welcome to these forums! The symptoms you describe could relate to any number of health issues and so I would suggest that if you're concerned about it, you should contact your doctor. Kind regards,
Sweet
Well, this is a new thought, now I must run to the mirror and evaluate lol
Shellfoxnut
Have you noticed an increase in cartilage as well? I have, as well as, shrinking lobes. I found it's called petrified ears and linked with a pituitary problem. I haven't read through all the responses...is this the same for anyone else?
